"Germany’s leading NGO fighting hunger with long-term development programs."
Welthungerhilfe, one of Germany’s largest non-governmental development organizations, specializes in long-term assistance and sustainable development initiatives. Since its inception in 1962, the organization has partnered with Kenyan development groups to advance community-driven progress. Recognized as a registered NGO in Kenya in 1993, Welthungerhilfe has since maintained a Nairobi-based office to coordinate its operations. Its primary focus areas in Kenya span the arid and semi-arid regions of Kannada, Make, Kit, Tana River, Arabic, and Larissa Counties. In 2012, the organization extended its reach to Nairobi County, followed by expansions into Kaka mega, Vieira, Says, Turkey, Major, and Mandela Counties in 2015, all in collaboration with local partners. Additionally, the Kenya Country Program oversees Welthungerhilfe’s initiatives in Somalia and Tanzania.
