You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to established protocols. Collaborating closely with the Country Director, you will craft and assume full accountability for a comprehensive fundraising and business continuity strategy tailored to the Country Office, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and long-term sustainability.

Maintain and consistently update the funding pipeline for the Country office by tracking opportunities and monitoring the status of proposals.

Identify and monitor prospective funding opportunities from private and institutional donors by conducting comprehensive research on donor funding trends and cultivating strategic partnerships with relevant organizations.

Create and sustain tools, guidelines, and templates dedicated to donor intelligence information, ensuring they remain current and effective for ongoing use.

Lead preparatory initiatives to secure upcoming funding opportunities by proactively identifying and engaging key stakeholders—including international and national NGOs, academic institutions, research organizations, and relevant government ministries—to establish strategic partnerships. Facilitate the development of teaming agreements and craft compelling, evidence-based strategies and pitches designed to strengthen proposals and enhance competitiveness.

In partnership with the Head of Programs, organize and lead visits for donors and prospective partners to WHH Somalia/Somaliland operational sites, highlighting key achievements, measurable impact, and funding gaps that require additional investment.

Lead proposal development initiatives by overseeing end-to-end processes, ensuring strict adherence to project timelines, and facilitating seamless collaboration to gather required inputs. Serve as the lead author for proposals aimed at securing new business opportunities, driving the creation of compelling and competitive submissions.

Oversee the compilation of evidence briefs, capacity statements, and other relevant documentation. Provide assistance with evidence-gathering initiatives as needed.

Develop and nurture connections with prospective donors, encompassing individuals, businesses, charitable institutions, and governmental bodies, while expanding the donor base to include unconventional sources and foundations, particularly those based in Gulf states.

Your profile

Professional qualification, complemented by additional certification or vocational training, or equivalent practical experience, is required.

A minimum of five to seven years of substantive professional experience in the Global South, with a requirement of at least five years specifically within the Somali context.

Seasoned professional with extensive on-the-ground experience in the Somali region, possessing a comprehensive grasp of Somali humanitarian and development coordination frameworks and aid systems.

Demonstrated success in obtaining institutional funding from prominent bilateral and multilateral donors.

Experts in the Somali funding ecosystem are sought, with deep insight into both traditional, novel, and evolving donor networks.

Experience in designing and implementing resilience programs tailored to dryland environments, encompassing climate adaptation initiatives, livelihood enhancement strategies, and food security interventions, is a key requirement.

Demonstrates a readiness and physical capability to comply with mandatory vaccination protocols essential for overseas travel and assignment deployment.

You understand the increasing significance of data within your industry and are motivated to expand your knowledge and expertise to effectively integrate data-driven methodologies into your professional practice.

Fluent proficiency in both written and spoken English is essential.
