Under the guidance of the Country Director, create and assume responsibility for a comprehensive fundraising and business continuity strategy tailored to the Country Office’s objectives.

Maintain and periodically update the Country Office funding pipeline by monitoring opportunities and proposal statuses to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Excellent candidates will systematically research and monitor prospective funding sources, including private donors and institutional grant makers, by leveraging donor intelligence platforms and cultivating strategic partnerships to ensure timely awareness of emerging opportunities.

Create and sustain resources, frameworks, and templates to manage donor intelligence data effectively.

Lead the groundwork for upcoming funding opportunities by proactively identifying and engaging key stakeholders—including international NGOs, national NGOs, universities, research institutions, and relevant line ministries—to establish collaborative consortia. Additionally, draft and finalize teaming agreements while devising compelling strategies and pitches to secure funding successfully.

Through coordination with the Head of Programs, arrange and oversee visits to WHH Somalia/Somaliland field locations for donors and prospective partners, highlighting key accomplishments, demonstrating measurable impact, and identifying critical funding gaps.

Direct proposal development initiatives by managing timelines, integrating contributions from stakeholders, and serving as the principal author for new business proposals.

Lead the compilation of evidence briefs, capacity statements, and supporting documentation. Provide assistance with evidence-gathering initiatives as needed.

Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with prospective donors, encompassing individuals, corporations, foundations, and governmental entities to ensure a diverse donor base, including non-traditional contributors and foundations from the Gulf states.

Your profile

A degree from a recognized institution, complemented by specialized certifications or vocational training—or relevant hands-on experience—is required.

Seeking a professional with 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in the Global South, specifically including a minimum of 5 years within the Somali context.

Experienced professional with practical fieldwork in the Somali region, possessing a comprehensive grasp of the humanitarian and development coordination frameworks and aid systems within the area.

Exceptional ability to successfully obtain institutional funding from prominent bilateral and multilateral donors, demonstrated through a strong history of achievement.

Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the Somali funding environment, encompassing both traditional and novel donor sources, as well as those in the process of development.

Proven track record in implementing resilience initiatives within arid and semi-arid environments, with a focus on climate adaptation strategies, sustainable livelihoods’ development, and food security enhancement programs.

Demonstrates the ability and physical readiness to obtain all necessary vaccinations mandated for international travel and deployment.

Recognizing the escalating significance of data within your profession, you are keen to enhance your knowledge and competencies to effectively integrate data-driven methodologies into your professional practice.

Proficiency in English, encompassing both written and verbal communication, is essential.
