Under the guidance of the Country Director, assume full responsibility for crafting and implementing a comprehensive fundraising and business continuity strategy tailored to the Country Office.
Maintain and routinely update the funding pipeline for the Country Office, ensuring that opportunities and proposal statuses are consistently tracked.
Conduct comprehensive research to identify prospective funding sources, including private donors and institutional benefactors, while concurrently cultivating and maintaining strong partnerships to ensure ongoing support and alignment with organizational goals.
Develop and oversee the tools, guidelines, and templates utilized for donor intelligence information to ensure consistency and efficiency in data management.
Lead preparatory initiatives to secure anticipated funding by proactively identifying and engaging key stakeholders—including international NGOs, national NGOs, academic institutions, research organizations, and relevant government ministries—to establish collaborative consortia. Develop and finalize teaming agreements, while crafting compelling strategies and pitches to enhance proposal competitiveness and ensure successful funding acquisition.
In coordination with the Head of Programs, arrange visits for donors and prospective partners to WHH Somalia/Somaliland operational sites, highlighting program accomplishments, demonstrating impact, and identifying funding gaps.
Drive proposal development initiatives, spearheading the creation and management of proposal timelines while ensuring seamless integration of cross-functional inputs. Serve as the primary author for new business proposals, ensuring clarity, precision, and persuasive content throughout the submission process.
Lead the compilation and drafting of evidence briefs, capacity statements, and other relevant documentation. Provide assistance with evidence collection initiatives as needed.
Develop strategic relationships with prospective donors spanning individuals, corporations, foundations, and government entities, while expanding outreach to include non-traditional donors and foundations, particularly those based in the Gulf region, to enhance donor diversity.
Your profile
Professional certification or vocational training, or equivalent practical experience, is required.
Requires 5–7 years of relevant professional experience, with a minimum of 5 years acquired in the Global South, specifically within the Somali context.
Experienced professional with proven field engagement in the Somali region, possessing an in-depth knowledge of Somali humanitarian and development coordination mechanisms and aid frameworks.
Demonstrated success in obtaining substantial financial support from key bilateral and multilateral donor institutions.
Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the Somali funding environment, encompassing established, emerging, and novel donors alike.
Proven expertise in designing and implementing resilience initiatives in arid and semi-arid regions, with a focus on climate adaptation strategies, livelihood enhancement, and food security interventions.
Medical eligibility and willingness to complete all mandatory vaccinations necessary for international travel and deployment are required.
