Job Summary
The Legal Officer will manage the company’s legal affairs, handling litigation oversight, settlement facilitation, and recovery initiatives. This role involves collaborating with external legal representatives, internal departments, and senior leadership to ensure the protection of the company’s legal interests.
Facilitates the execution of essential duties and obligations. Responsible for performing a range of critical tasks aligned with the position’s core functions. Handles key responsibilities that contribute to operational efficiency and effectiveness. Ensures adherence to established procedures and standards while fulfilling assigned obligations.
Upon receipt of legal summons, the role involves evaluating whether legal liability is incurred by the Company through a thorough assessment of the summons and applicable legal principles.
You will be responsible for referring cases to our advocates and providing comprehensive guidance on the handling procedures for each case.
Our team provides clear guidance to advocates regarding the appropriate course of action for court suits—whether to proceed to trial or pursue out-of-court negotiations—to mitigate the risk of escalating legal costs stemming from confirmed injuries.
Reviewing feedback and perspectives shared by our advocates to gain valuable insights.
Ensuring witnesses are scheduled to attend court proceedings and visit our advocates’ offices for pre-trial briefing sessions.
Providing guidance to our advocates regarding cases necessitating plaintiffs to undergo further medical evaluations is essential.
You will manage all advocate communications and maintain accurate, current information in each file.
Assessing outcomes and identifying appropriate subsequent measures, such as appeals, to advance the matter.
Drafting legal reports upon request ensures timely and accurate documentation aligned with organizational and regulatory standards.
To conduct routine audits of legal files to verify the accuracy of maintained reserves and confirm the files are current.
Working collaboratively with the Claims Manager, our focus is to initiate and manage the recovery process for the Company. This entails executing all necessary actions to secure repayment or compensation as appropriate.
Execute other tasks as assigned by the supervisor on an as-needed basis.
Seeking a highly motivated individual with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in software development or systems administration. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential, along with expertise in database management systems like SQL or NoSQL. Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to collaborate effectively within a team environment are required. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to evolving technologies. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining software applications, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to system improvements.
A law degree (LLB) or an equivalent qualification is required.
A postgraduate diploma in law, along with admission to the bar and possession of a current practicing certificate, is required.
Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant office software applications.
A minimum of one year of experience in legal practice is required.
