"Sustainable urban development for inclusive, thriving cities worldwide."
The United Nations Human Settlements Program, UN-Habitat, serves as the UN’s designated agency focused on human settlements. Its mandate, as outlined by the UN General Assembly, is to advance socially and environmentally sustainable urban development while ensuring access to adequate shelter for all. Within UN-Habitat, the Urban Economy Branch is tasked with strengthening the capacities of local governments to design financial tools that respond to the challenges posed by rapid urbanization. Additionally, this branch is responsible for promoting strategic planning and offering assistance to create more efficient, equitable, well-connected, and cohesive cities that drive sustainable urban growth.
