Collaborating closely with the Country Director, you will craft and assume responsibility for a comprehensive fundraising and business continuity strategy tailored to the Country Office.
Maintain the Country Office funding pipeline by routinely updating and tracking funding opportunities as well as proposal statuses.
Identify and monitor upcoming funding opportunities from both private and institutional donors by conducting intelligence gathering on donor funding and fostering partner relationships.
Create and sustain resources, including tools, guidelines, and templates, to manage donor intelligence information effectively.
Lead the groundwork for upcoming funding prospects by proactively identifying and engaging key collaborators—such as international and national NGOs, academic institutions, research bodies, and government agencies—to establish strategic consortia. Develop and formalize partnership agreements, while crafting compelling, data-driven strategies and pitches to maximize competitive success.
In partnership with the Head of Programs, you will coordinate and oversee visits by donors and prospective partners to WHH Somalia/Somaliland field locations, highlighting key accomplishments, measurable impact, and critical funding gaps that require further support.
Lead proposal development initiatives, managing timelines and integrating contributions while serving as the primary author of new business proposals.
Compile evidence briefs, capacity statements, and supporting documentation while providing assistance during evidence-gathering activities as needed.
Your role will involve actively seeking out and nurturing connections with a diverse range of potential donors—such as individuals, corporations, foundations, and government entities—to expand and diversify funding sources, including non-traditional contributors and foundations from regions like the Gulf states.
Your profile
Professional qualifications, supplemented by additional certifications or vocational training—or equivalent practical experience—are essential.
A minimum of seven years of professional experience in the Global South is required, with at least five of those years specifically dedicated to work within the Somali context.
Demonstrated field experience in the Somali region, with strong understanding of Somali humanitarian and development coordination structures and aid architecture.
Demonstrates a strong history of successfully obtaining institutional funding from prominent bilateral and multilateral donors.
Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the Somali funding environment, encompassing both well-established donors and those that are relatively new or emerging on the scene.
Skilled in designing and implementing resilience initiatives tailored to arid environments, encompassing climate adaptation strategies, livelihood enhancement programs, and food security interventions.
Individuals must be medically eligible and prepared to receive all necessary vaccinations for international travel and deployment.
You understand the increasing significance of data in your profession and are enthusiastic about expanding your knowledge and competencies to apply data-driven strategies in your professional activities.
Proficiency in both written and spoken English is essential.
