The County Solicitor serves as the primary legal advisor to the County Attorney, overseeing the County Attorney’s office’s legal operations and ensuring their effective coordination. Responsibilities include managing legal personnel, overseeing litigation matters, and delivering legal counsel to County Government officials on a wide range of issues. Additionally, the County Solicitor drafts and reviews legal documents, verifies adherence to regulatory requirements, and acts as the County’s authorized representative in legal proceedings.

Obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from an accredited university.

To qualify, candidates must have served as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya for a minimum of five years following admission and hold a valid current practicing certificate, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws and adherence to professional standards.

A master’s degree in Law and a senior management certification from the Kenya School of Government would be advantageous.

The incumbent will support the County Attorney by overseeing the organization, coordination, and management of the Office’s administrative and legal operations.

Oversee and delegate all cases, including appeals and petitions, in coordination with the County Attorney, ensuring thorough and timely execution of legal responsibilities.

Execute the Accounting Officer responsibilities within the County Attorney’s office, in collaboration with the County Attorney, ensuring all financial operations align with established policies and procedures.

The position involves organizing and overseeing the training and professional growth of staff members, as well as managing the attachment process for pupillage candidates within the County Attorney’s office.
