Job Summary

Pearl Hospital, a Level 4 multi-specialty facility in Lavinia County, is seeking a dedicated Community Oral and Health Officer to deliver exceptional oral healthcare services. This role encompasses diagnosing and treating dental conditions, implementing preventive care measures, and conducting community-based oral health education initiatives. The incumbent will champion proper dental hygiene practices and contribute to comprehensive patient care, all while upholding the hospital’s core values of Quality, Efficiency, Professionalism, and Compassion.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational coordination, and team leadership to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to streamline processes and enhance productivity. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and performance metrics to drive efficiency and accountability. Monitor progress through regular assessments, providing data-driven insights to optimize outcomes. Serve as a liaison between senior management and departmental teams to communicate goals, address challenges, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards while maintaining a focus on innovation and sustainable growth.

Perform comprehensive oral examinations to evaluate patients’ dental health and document findings with precision.

Diagnose and provide treatment for prevalent oral and dental conditions, including their management and resolution.

Execute preventive and corrective treatments to maintain optimal health and address existing conditions effectively.

Deliver comprehensive oral health education and counselling to patients and communities in a clear and accessible manner.

Engage in community outreach initiatives and dental awareness campaigns to promote oral health education and preventive care.

Maintain compliance with infection prevention and control protocols within the dental unit to safeguard patient and staff safety.

Compile and organize necessary reports while ensuring all documentation is kept current and compliant with established standards.

Verify adherence to the guidelines and standards set forth by the Ministry of Health and the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience, along with at least three years of related work experience. Proficiency in industry-standard software tools and strong analytical skills are essential requirements. Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, are necessary to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of problem-solving and project management in previous roles. Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards and attention to detail are also critical for success in this position.

Hold a recognized qualification in Community Oral Health, such as a Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution.

A current, active practicing license and registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council are required.

A minimum of 1 to 2 years of hands-on clinical experience in a high-volume dental practice is strongly preferred.

BLS certification is considered advantageous for candidates who possess it.

Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities are essential, along with strong interpersonal competencies to foster collaborative relationships and facilitate clear, effective interactions.

Proficiency in basic computer operations and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems would be considered beneficial.

Candidates must possess a comprehensive set of essential skills, including strong analytical thinking, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in relevant technical or industry-specific tools. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital for collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
