Ensuring the proper functioning and upkeep of laboratory equipment and apparatus is essential to our operations. This role involves the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of various instruments to maintain optimal performance and safety standards. Additionally, it includes the calibration, cleaning, and preventive maintenance of tools to prevent malfunctions and extend their operational lifespan.

Before each practical lesson, the instructor is responsible for organizing and setting up all necessary equipment and chemicals, ensuring they are properly prepared and ready for use. This includes verifying that all materials are in good working condition, adequately stocked, and safely arranged to support the instructional objectives of the session.

Maintain accurate documentation for practical sessions, including tracking student participation, methodologies employed, and corresponding outcomes, to ensure comprehensive record-keeping.

Conducting preliminary experimental trials before scheduled classes and subsequently showcasing experimental techniques is required.

The role involves assisting academic staff during class and laboratory sessions, providing technical guidance to both staff and students.

We collaborate with faculty members to coordinate schedules, determine necessary equipment, and establish detailed plans for hands-on learning activities.

Collaborating closely with students, the role involves providing personalized assistance and guidance throughout their research initiatives, ensuring their projects progress effectively and meet academic standards.

Candidates must meet the following qualifications to be considered for this opportunity. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, or business administration, is required. Additionally, a minimum of three years of professional experience in a related industry is necessary. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, is essential. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are also required to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. Prior experience in project management or leadership roles is a plus.

Serves as a faculty member in an academic institution, delivering high-quality instruction to students across various disciplines. Develops and implements curriculum, ensuring alignment with educational standards and institutional goals. Earned a Diploma in Pharmacy or a Diploma in Laboratory Sciences from a recognized accredited institution.

Holders of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or an equivalent qualification are invited to apply.

EXPERIENCE

Professional experience in an academic or research laboratory environment is required.

Demonstrated proficiency in practical execution, strong organizational capabilities, and a steadfast dedication to managing individual workloads, coupled with a commitment to advancing academic research.

A comprehensive understanding of the subject area, complemented by a diverse academic background, empowers effective contributions to the teaching curriculum.

Proficiency in pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical chemistry, or pharmaceutics would be beneficial to this role.
