The ideal candidate will also possess pertinent professional qualifications, such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation (Kenya). This position is offered on a five-year contract basis.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of essential duties and responsibilities to ensure seamless operational performance. Manage and coordinate key tasks, including strategic planning, team leadership, and process optimization, while maintaining rigorous adherence to established policies and procedures. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration, problem-solving initiatives, and stakeholder communication to drive organizational efficiency and achieve predetermined objectives. Monitor progress through performance metrics, conduct regular evaluations, and implement corrective measures as needed to uphold high standards of productivity and accountability.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the incumbent will oversee all departments, including Finance, Marketing and Business Development, Customer Services/Care, Projects, ICT, Credit, and Risk.

Partner with the Board to enhance and execute the Strategic Plan, ensuring alignment of budget allocation, staff resources, and organizational priorities with the SACCO’s Mission and Vision.

Deliver visionary leadership and strategic guidance to executives while fostering the ongoing growth and administration of a high-performing, streamlined organization; implement robust decision-making frameworks that empower the SACCO to meet its short and long-term goals and objectives.

Drive ongoing, high-impact recruitment initiatives to expand and strengthen the membership base.

Formulating, implementing, and overseeing all strategic plans and performance objectives to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Conducting the daily operations of the SACCO, including providing consistent support and supervision to staff at their workstations and ensuring regular staff rotations.

Formulate and present long-term strategic initiatives, business plans, and annual operating budgets for approval by the Board of Directors, while implementing robust internal monitoring mechanisms and establishing effective control systems and procedures.

The role involves facilitating clear and consistent communication channels between the Board and staff to promote alignment and transparency.

Overseeing a comprehensive range of Human Resource functions, such as designing organizational frameworks, managing staff appointments, promoting employee welfare, facilitating professional development initiatives, maintaining industrial relations, handling separations, and implementing robust succession planning strategies.

To continuously enhance the quality and value of services offered by the SACCO, ensuring ongoing advancements and refinements.

To guarantee consistent progress toward the SACCO’s financial and operational targets, as well as to facilitate the quarterly submission of internal auditor reports and recommendations.

Our role involves supervising and guaranteeing the effective execution of SACCO policies and programs.

Ensuring adherence to SACCO policies, regulations, and applicable government legislation remains a critical responsibility.

Guiding the SACCO to successfully execute its existing Strategic Plan while maintaining quarterly progress reports.

Person Profile

A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting—or cooperative education experience—is required for this position.

A degree in management, business administration, or a closely related discipline is required.

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Kenya and a member in good standing of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (IC PAK).

A Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting is advantageous.

With a minimum of two years of professional experience within a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society, candidates should demonstrate hands-on involvement in cooperative financial operations.

Management experience will be considered a valuable asset.
