Responsibilities

Develop, strategize, and maintain the organization’s website to ensure optimal performance, security, and user experience.

Collaborate on crafting an innovative web communication strategy for the corporate website(s), along with child or affiliated sites and pages, as well as the Knowledge Repository, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mandate, goals, and brand identity.

Oversee the ongoing development, upkeep, and improvement of the organization’s Drupal and State-based web platforms, guaranteeing their operational integrity, intuitive navigation, user accessibility, and technical performance while maintaining seamless interoperability and integration across systems.

Establish universal compatibility and technical benchmarks to guarantee seamless site accessibility across all user groups, encompassing multilingual support for UNEP web platforms.

Provide direction and support to web developers, designers, and service providers to facilitate the execution of technical solutions and enhancements for web platforms and the Knowledge Repository.

Deliver technical assistance to internal stakeholders and end-users on website functionality, Knowledge Repository navigation, and content management system utilization.

Troubleshoot technical challenges, including system bugs and errors, to maintain the seamless functionality of the web platforms and the Knowledge Repository for the United Nations Environment Program.

Partner with IT support teams and external vendors to resolve advanced technical issues, manage necessary services and subscriptions, and streamline the deployment of new applications.

Conduct comprehensive business analysis and ensure rigorous quality assurance processes to identify operational inefficiencies, validate system requirements, and uphold adherence to established standards and best practices across all projects.

Deliver expert training sessions to team members, content creators, and website users on optimal content management strategies, proficient CMS utilization, adherence to website protocols, and template implementation to foster greater awareness of how digital platforms can bolster user engagement and expand UNEP’s audience reach.

Develop and oversee the comprehensive content strategy and its implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and brand messaging. Manage the entire content lifecycle, from ideation and creation to publication and performance analysis, while maintaining consistency and quality across all platforms. Oversee content calendars, editorial workflows, and team collaboration to ensure timely delivery of high-value content that engages audiences and drives measurable results.

Develop and execute an overarching web content strategy that ensures alignment with the organization’s goals and resonates with the intended audience across web platforms and the Knowledge Repository. We seek a candidate with a strong academic background, holding at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as education, psychology, or a related discipline. Preference will be given to individuals with a Master’s degree or higher, complemented by specialized certifications or training in instructional design, curriculum development, or educational leadership. The ideal applicant must demonstrate a minimum of five years of progressive experience in educational settings, including roles such as teaching, administrative leadership, or educational consulting. Proficiency in curriculum planning, assessment methodologies, and the integration of technology in education is essential. Additionally, excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and drive educational initiatives.

An advanced university degree, either a master’s or equivalent, in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Communication, Public Information, or a closely related discipline is mandatory.

A first-level university degree, supplemented by a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience, may be considered equivalent to an advanced university degree.

Completion of both degree and nondegree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is preferred.
