The County Solicitor serves as the primary legal advisor to the County Attorney, overseeing the management and coordination of all legal operations within the County Attorney’s office. Key responsibilities include supervising legal personnel, overseeing litigation matters, and offering strategic legal counsel to the County Government on diverse issues. Additionally, the County Solicitor is instrumental in the preparation, review, and compliance verification of legal documents, as well as representing the County in official legal proceedings.

A candidate must meet the following requirements to be considered for this position:

Serve as a citizen of Kenya.

Earn a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from an accredited university.

With a minimum of five years’ experience as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya post-admission and a valid practicing certificate, demonstrate proficiency in relevant legal frameworks and professional norms.

A Master’s degree in Law, coupled with a Senior Management Certificate from the Kenya School of Government, will be considered an additional benefit.

Possess a comprehensive grasp of Devolution, the strategic objectives and vision set forth by the County, including the 2030 agenda, to ensure alignment with broader developmental goals.

The County Solicitor will serve as the primary legal advisor to the County Attorney, playing a pivotal role in fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the County Attorney’s office.

The incumbent will provide support to the County Attorney by facilitating the organization, coordination, and administration of the Office’s legal and operational activities.

Convene or delegate and oversee all casework, encompassing appeals and petitions in coordination with the County Attorney.
