This role is an early-to-mid-career research position within DAKOTA’s Customer Intelligence (CI) team. As a CI Research Associate, you will contribute to comprehensive UX and product research initiatives, overseeing projects from initial study design to the delivery of actionable insights. Collaboration is central to this role, as you’ll work in tandem with senior researchers and cross-functional partners. The research you conduct will directly impact real products and influence the experiences of customers who rely on these solutions for their financial well-being—experiences that must perform effectively and reliably.
As a hybrid professional in this role, you will collaborate from our Kenya-based offices with colleagues spanning our global markets, including the UK, Europe, and Africa. In this role, you won’t be confined to a limited support function; instead, you’ll engage with groundbreaking products designed for first-time smartphone users, first-time borrowers, and first-time digital finance customers across five markets. The research challenges are multifaceted, the outcomes carry real-world significance, and the team prioritizes excellence in execution.
What You’ll be doing
Convene moderated usability tests, semi-structured interviews, and surveys while overseeing the complete logistics of fieldwork for both remote and in-person sessions, guaranteeing that each setup is optimized to yield high-quality data from the outset.
Crafting qualitative data into meaningful insights through coding and synthesis involves developing affinity maps, compiling insight lists, and generating structured reports. These deliverables effectively communicate findings in a clear, actionable format tailored for both your team and key stakeholders.
Engaging in collaborative research processes, proactively identifying ambiguities in briefs, and leveraging AI-powered tools such as Claude and Notion AI while exercising discernment to determine when human oversight is necessary for the output.
What You’ll bring
Demonstrated expertise in UX research methodologies, encompassing moderated usability testing, semi-structured interviewing, and survey design, along with a keen awareness of the appropriate contexts and rationales for applying each approach.
Demonstrates expertise in analyzing qualitative data, including coding responses, recognizing recurring themes, and creating structured synthesis deliverables such as affinity maps and insight lists through a systematic and organized methodology.
Proficient understanding of DAKOTA’s markets or the wider landscape of first-time digital financial services users, coupled with a deep-seated interest in addressing the usability challenges inherent in this demographic.
