Job Summary
Reporting to the Program Accountant, this role is primarily tasked with compiling and maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with BECOME Finance guidelines and applicable policies. Additionally, the position entails the preparation and submission of final accounts, handling taxation obligations, managing budgets, overseeing asset management, facilitating audits, and addressing risk management requirements.
The primary duties and responsibilities encompass a comprehensive range of tasks, including but not limited to executing core functions, overseeing operational activities, and ensuring adherence to established protocols. Key responsibilities involve managing projects from inception to completion, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives, and maintaining meticulous records of all transactions and communications. Additionally, the role requires the incumbent to monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure are essential for success in this position.
Thoroughly assess invoices and accompanying documentation to ensure their precision and comprehensiveness.
Compile payment vouchers and record transactions in journals, ledgers, and other designated accounting systems.
Ensure adherence to all organizational procurement standards and regulations throughout the purchasing process.
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of cash and financial accounts by performing routine maintenance and reconciliation tasks. This includes verifying transactions, balancing accounts, and addressing any discrepancies to uphold financial compliance and reporting standards.
To guarantee compliance with established accounting methods, principles, and policies.
We conduct and oversee annual audits while identifying opportunities to enhance procedures and systems, proposing corrective actions where necessary.
Ensure all payments to vendors, staff, and statutory bodies are processed promptly and accurately.
Prepare and submit statutory returns for VAT, PAYE, NAIF, NSSF, and other applicable taxes in strict accordance with current legal and regulatory requirements.
Provide support for payroll processing and associated reconciliations to guarantee prompt and precise disbursements.
Facilitate the monthly and year-end financial closing procedures by managing accruals and performing reconciliations.
Compile and refine expenditure reports, cash flow projections, and daily treasury statements to facilitate informed management decisions.
Ensure the filing system remains meticulously accurate and systematically organized to facilitate seamless audits and maintain full compliance.
During internal and external audits, assist by compiling necessary schedules and ensuring all required documentation is readily available.
Monitor departmental spending by systematically comparing actual expenditures against allocated budget lines to ensure financial alignment and accountability.
Maintain the fixed asset register by performing tagging, verification, and updating asset movements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Contribute to the identification of financial risks and support the execution of internal control measures.
Execute additional financial duties and responsibilities as needed, aligned with the position’s scope and organizational level.

The candidate must meet the following qualifications and requirements for this position.
Candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with a specialization in Accounting, has successfully completed CPA Part I, and is actively pursuing CPA Part II or higher qualifications.
Experience, while beneficial, is optional for this role.
A comprehensive grasp of accounting principles, practices, standards, as well as statutory and regulatory requirements is essential.
Experienced in utilizing QuickBooks accounting software and databases, with comprehensive operational expertise.
