Oversee and execute key responsibilities that include managing daily operations, ensuring adherence to company policies, and fostering a productive work environment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives, streamline processes, and drive organizational efficiency. Monitor performance metrics to assess productivity levels, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategic solutions. Serve as a liaison between senior leadership and staff to facilitate clear communication, resolve escalated issues, and promote a culture of accountability. Additionally, develop and maintain training programs to enhance employee skills, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and support continuous professional growth.

The ideal candidate will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:

Orchestrating comprehensive Operational and Credit Risk Management programs spanning all branches and departments is a key responsibility of this role.

Overseeing portfolio quality, operational loss exposure, fraud risk mitigation, and internal control efficacy constitutes key responsibilities within this role.

Designing, implementing, and upholding enterprise-wide Risk and Compliance frameworks that meet regulatory requirements as well as Vision Fund International’s established standards.

As the institution’s designated Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MRO), you will hold responsibility for overseeing compliance with anti-money laundering regulations and ensuring the organization’s adherence to legal and regulatory obligations.

Overseeing adherence to Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CFT) mandates, Data Protection legislation, Digital Credit Provider Regulations, and additional legal obligations remains a core responsibility.

Developing comprehensive Risk & Compliance reports tailored for senior leadership, board committees, and regulatory authorities.

To oversee and facilitate the development and implementation of Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) initiatives.

Fostering an institutional culture of risk awareness, delivering targeted staff training programs, and championing compliance initiatives remain central responsibilities.

Ensuring the implementation of audit and compliance recommendations is completed and subsequently closed out.

Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, alongside at least three years of hands-on experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical abilities to interpret complex data and implement effective solutions. Excellent communication skills are required to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts clearly. The ideal applicant will demonstrate a proven track record of delivering results under tight deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail. Knowledge of project management methodologies and prior leadership experience are highly advantageous.

The preferred candidate must demonstrate strong qualifications in the following areas:

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law, or a related discipline is required.

Professional qualifications including CPA, ARCA, CIA, CISA, COMA, CAMS, or their equivalents are advantageous to candidates applying for this role.

A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in Risk Management, Compliance, or Internal Audit is required, with a focus on the Microfinance, Banking, SACCO, or broader Financial Services industries.

Proficient in Operational Risk, Credit Risk, AML/CFT, Internal Controls, and Regulatory Compliance, with a comprehensive understanding of each domain.

Strong proficiency in analytical thinking, clear and effective communication, report-writing, and stakeholder management is required.

High standards of integrity, professionalism, and meticulous attention to detail are essential.
