ESL is actively recruiting a skilled and performance-oriented Technical Officer to bolster its technical and operational functions. The chosen professional will oversee equipment maintenance, manage technical documentation, coordinate operations, engage with stakeholders, and ensure the peak performance of company assets. Candidates must demonstrate robust technical expertise in heavy plant maintenance, exceptional analytical abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic operational setting. The role is stationed in Mombasa.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to drive organizational success. Lead initiatives that enhance productivity, optimize workflows, and ensure alignment with company objectives. Manage teams, allocate resources efficiently, and implement best practices to maintain high performance standards. Monitor progress, analyze outcomes, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership to inform decision-making. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement while upholding compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.

Oversee the administration and upkeep of all maintenance records, job cards, and equipment documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with established protocols.

Develop and oversee schedules for preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.

Diagnose malfunctions, facilitate repair processes, and maintain equipment operational readiness.

Oversee the utilization of equipment, assess operational performance, and ensure adherence to safety regulations.

Coordinate all necessary permits, approvals, and statutory inspections to ensure full regulatory compliance, adhering to established timelines and procedural standards.

Compile weekly reports detailing asset utilization metrics and the progress of ongoing work activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree or diploma in mechanical engineering with a specialization in plant design, or an equivalent qualification in a related discipline, is required.

The candidate must successfully pass the Government Trade Test in Engineering to qualify for this position.

Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.

With a minimum of five to six years of hands-on experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy machinery, candidates should demonstrate a proven track record in this specialized field.

Demonstrates proficiency in strategic planning, problem-solving, and analytical thinking to drive organizational objectives forward. Exhibits strong leadership capabilities, fostering collaboration and innovation within cross-functional teams. Proficient in data analysis, project management, and decision-making processes to enhance operational efficiency. Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively. Maintains a results-driven mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability in dynamic environments.

Proficiency in machine diagnostic software applications is required.

Possesses robust technical proficiency and strong analytical capabilities.
