Job Summary

This role entails overseeing the company’s legal operations, which encompasses managing litigation, negotiating settlements, and executing recovery strategies. The Legal Officer will collaborate with external legal counsel, cross-functional teams, and senior leadership to ensure robust protection of the organization’s legal rights and interests.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical duties and responsibilities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Lead key initiatives, manage cross-functional projects, and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity. Collaborate with senior leadership to develop strategic plans, allocate resources effectively, and monitor performance metrics. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement while maintaining strict adherence to compliance and regulatory requirements.

Upon receipt of summons, the individual will assess whether legal liability may be imposed on the Company, ensuring a thorough evaluation of the matter.

We assign cases to our advocates and provide detailed guidance on case management procedures.

We provide our advocates with guidance on whether to proceed with court suits for trial or pursue out-of-court negotiations to prevent further cost escalation on confirmed injuries.

Reviewing feedback and insights shared by our supporters.

We coordinate witness attendance at court proceedings and facilitate their visits to our advocates’ offices for pre-trial briefings.

Providing guidance to our advocates regarding cases necessitating plaintiffs to attend secondary medical evaluations is a key responsibility within this role.

We manage all advocate communications and maintain current, accurate information in each file.

Conduct thorough evaluations and establish appropriate follow-up actions, such as appeals, to ensure informed decision-making and procedural adherence.

Drafting legal documentation in response to any formal requests is required.

To conduct regular audits of legal files to verify the maintenance of precise reserves and ensure all documentation remains current and compliant with established standards.

Working collaboratively with the Claims Manager, actively pursue recovery actions on behalf of the Company.

Execute additional responsibilities as determined by the supervisor from time to time.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is required. Proficiency in relevant software and tools is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are necessary. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality are highly valued. Experience in a similar role is preferred. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks is required. Familiarity with industry standards and best practices is advantageous.

A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or an equivalent qualification is required.

A postgraduate diploma in law is essential, and applicants must be admitted to the bar and possess a valid practicing certificate.

Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant office software applications with strong technical literacy.

At least one year of professional experience in legal practice is required.

The ideal candidate must possess a diverse set of skills and demonstrates key competencies essential for success in this role.
