Job Summary
ENA is seeking a meticulous and structured Internal Audit Assistant to bolster our internal audit operations. In this pivotal position, you will contribute to assessing and enhancing the efficiency of ENA’s risk management, internal control frameworks, and governance mechanisms. This role is instrumental in safeguarding the organization’s adherence to strategic objectives while upholding rigorous standards of compliance and financial reliability.
Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical duties, including but not limited to strategic planning, team leadership, and operational oversight to ensure organizational objectives are met with precision and efficiency. Develop and implement innovative processes to enhance productivity, while maintaining rigorous adherence to compliance standards and fostering a culture of accountability across all departments. Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the internal control systems to ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. Analyze existing policies, procedures, and processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, or areas of non-compliance with established standards. Develop and implement corrective actions to strengthen control mechanisms, reduce vulnerabilities, and enhance overall governance. Review office financial systems to evaluate adherence to ENA Policies and ensure regulatory consistency. Prepare detailed reports highlighting compliance status, discrepancies, or areas requiring improvement.
Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and their practical application is required.
Conduct targeted audits and inquiries in accordance with management directives as needed.
The quarterly validation of management’s implementation of audit recommendations must be conducted to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
Risk Advisory professionals play a critical role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to safeguard organizational assets, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance operational resilience. They conduct comprehensive risk assessments, develop strategic risk management frameworks, and implement robust internal controls to address financial, operational, cybersecurity, and compliance risks. Responsible for cultivating and maintaining internal and external relationships to strengthen audit engagement processes for ENA projects in collaboration with donors and development partners.
Compiles and manages reports while ensuring compliance with established controls to maintain operational integrity and accuracy.
Presenting audit reports to the audit committee and providing updates on the implementation progress of internal audit recommendations.
Compose detailed reports to identify key issues and challenges, ensuring transparency and accountability, and then share these reports with the appropriate departments to facilitate prompt corrective action.
Performs additional duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
Education: Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field from an accredited institution. Academic credentials must be supported by official transcripts. For certain roles, possession of a professional certification or advanced degree may be required. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
A relevant university degree is required, with preference given to qualifications in Business Administration, Social Studies, Economics, or Finance.
Requires a minimum of three years of pertinent experience acquired in a fast-paced organizational setting.
Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in performing needs assessments for microfinance clients. Strong computer literacy, with advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Proficient in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili, with a strong command of report writing, documentation, and presentation skills.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills are required, along with a solid understanding of financial accounting principles.
Behavioral Competencies: Demonstrates self-motivation and the capacity to operate independently, possesses robust problem-solving abilities, and evaluates business plans with discernment.
