Conduct underwriting operations for the health insurance portfolio, maintaining rigorous risk selection standards, upholding business quality, and meeting profitability and loss ratio objectives.
Assess health risks and determine underwriting outcomes—acceptance, rejection, or modification—within the bounds of delegated authority, exercising sound technical judgment and strict compliance with established underwriting guidelines.
Analyze risk exposure to establish fair, competitive pricing, terms, and conditions while upholding underwriting discipline and maintaining a balanced approach.
Maintain full adherence to underwriting standards, credit policy, and delegated authority limits while upholding robust risk governance and audit preparedness.
Monitor assigned risks diligently and execute risk survey recommendations promptly to ensure timely implementation while fostering ongoing enhancements in portfolio quality.
Work collaboratively with business development, claims, and other internal teams to facilitate business acquisition, enhance client retention, and address underwriting-related concerns efficiently.
Monitor underwriting performance trends, identify emerging risks or areas of underperformance, and facilitate the implementation of corrective measures.
Maintain precise underwriting records while meticulously documenting client information to comply with both company policies and regulatory standards.
Perform all duties in strict accordance with the approved Delegated Authority Matrix, ensuring escalation of decisions that exceed assigned limits.
Drive enhancements in underwriting procedures, efficiency of processing times, and the caliber of service delivery standards through strategic initiatives and collaborative efforts.
Perform all additional tasks and responsibilities as directed to further the department’s goals and initiatives.
Proficiency in relevant areas, coupled with practical experience and appropriate credentials, are essential prerequisites for this role.
A bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or an insurance-related field is strongly preferred.
A recognized professional qualification in insurance, such as ACID or INK, is required.
Requires six to eight years of health underwriting experience, with a minimum of two years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
A demonstrated passion for driving innovation within the insurance and financial services sectors is highly desirable.
Exceptional proficiency in reporting and data management is essential.
Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau would be considered advantageous.
