Job Purpose:
Reporting directly to the Head of Employee Relations, Performance & Wellness, this position plays a key role in developing and implementing people practices that foster a fair, inclusive, and engaging work environment.

Oversee a range of critical duties, including the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Employee Relations responsibilities include fostering a positive work environment, addressing employee concerns, and mediating disputes to maintain harmonious workplace relationships. Provide assistance in crafting, clarifying, and disseminating HR policies that comply with Kenyan Labour Laws, applicable regulations, and the Bank’s established values and governance frameworks.
Oversee employee relations functions, such as addressing disciplinary matters, resolving grievances, addressing workplace conduct concerns, and managing appeals, while upholding fairness, consistency, and adherence to internal policies and regulatory standards.
Maintain meticulous and compliant records of employee relations cases in partnership with HR Business Partners and line management, ensuring documentation meets all audit and regulatory standards.
Spearhead organizational change efforts—such as restructures and branch realignments—while ensuring robust employee engagement, uninterrupted operations, and strict adherence to regulatory standards.
Deliver prompt and actionable advice to managers to ensure equitable, uniform, and regulatory-compliant management of employee issues, thereby reducing operational and reputational exposure.
Serve as a panel member during disciplinary hearings, guaranteeing strict compliance with due process, procedural fairness, and accurate documentation in accordance with organizational policies and relevant labor laws.
Oversee interactions with employee representatives and workplace committees, cultivating open dialogue, mutual trust, and cooperative efforts to uphold a productive and regulation-compliant workplace environment.
Maintain accurate and confidential disciplinary records by proficiently managing the ER tracker, ensuring all data remains readily available for audits and informed decision-making.
Assist in the regular assessment and revision of the HR Manual to maintain its compliance with employment laws, regulatory standards, and emerging trends in the banking industry.
Overseeing performance management entails establishing clear expectations, providing consistent feedback, and facilitating employee development to drive organizational success. This role involves setting measurable goals, conducting regular evaluations, and identifying opportunities for improvement or advancement. Additionally, it requires addressing performance issues through constructive dialogue and implementing corrective action plans when necessary to ensure alignment with company standards and objectives.

The role involves assisting with the implementation of the Bank’s Employee Wellness Program, coordinating wellness initiatives in alignment with the approved Wellness Calendar. Responsibilities include collaborating with accredited wellness service providers, organizing activities, fostering employee participation, and maintaining timely, professional communication with staff.
Support strategic inclusion and employee engagement initiatives—such as diversity forums and employee resource groups—by managing logistics, communications, and feedback systems to strengthen program effectiveness and amplify their impact.
Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and implement employee engagement initiatives, including end-of-year events and forums designed to foster teamwork, strategic alignment, and a vibrant organizational culture.
Co-create and execute employee recognition strategies at the organizational and departmental tiers, encompassing formal accolades and peer-driven appreciation efforts, to cultivate a culture of excellence and high performance.
Craft compelling and informative communication materials focused on employee wellness programs, policy updates, and engagement initiatives, ensuring strict adherence to internal communication standards for consistency and clarity.
Ensure measurable impact and accountability by achieving defined performance objectives that align with the Bank’s HR strategy, balanced scorecard, and individual performance targets.
Academic Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field, preferably with a specialization in Special Education. A Master’s degree is strongly preferred, and candidates must hold a valid teaching certification. Additionally, specialized training in areas such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or autism spectrum disorders is highly desirable.
A bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or a closely related discipline is required.
Qualified professionals with current membership in recognized professional bodies and a strong record of publications in relevant fields are encouraged to apply. Demonstrated involvement in professional organizations and contributions to scholarly publications are highly valued.
