The primary objective of this position is to perform essential duties that contribute to the overall success of the organization. Reporting directly to the Head of Employee Relations, Performance & Wellness, this position will play a key role in developing and implementing people strategies that foster a workplace characterized by fairness, inclusivity, and engagement.

This role encompasses fostering strong employee engagement, upholding regulatory adherence, overseeing performance evaluations, and cultivating a values-driven organizational culture.

Key Accountabilities Include: Delivering consistent performance aligned with organizational goals, overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency, and implementing process improvements to drive productivity. Collaborating across departments to foster alignment, maintaining high standards of quality, and addressing cross-functional challenges with strategic solutions. Monitoring performance metrics, identifying trends, and providing data-driven recommendations to senior leadership to support informed decision-making. Ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety protocols while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Employee Relations: Responsible for cultivating and maintaining a positive, productive workplace culture by addressing employee concerns, resolving conflicts, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies. Facilitates open communication between staff and management, mediates disputes, and provides guidance on workplace issues, performance concerns, and career development. Conducts investigations into grievances or misconduct, collaborates with legal and HR teams to mitigate risks, and implements corrective actions as needed. Serves as a trusted advisor to employees and leadership, promoting fairness, inclusivity, and engagement across all levels of the organization.

Facilitate the creation, clarification, and dissemination of HR policies in accordance with Kenyan Labour Laws, applicable regulatory obligations, and the Bank’s guiding principles and governance frameworks.

Oversee employee relations functions such as disciplinary actions, grievance resolution, workplace conduct concerns, and appeals, while upholding fairness, uniformity, and adherence to both internal policies and regulatory standards.

Ensure meticulous and audit-compliant documentation of employee relations cases is maintained through coordinated efforts with HR Business Partners and operational management, adhering strictly to established record-keeping and compliance standards.

Facilitate organizational transformation efforts—such as restructures and branch realignments—by upholding employee engagement, maintaining operational stability, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

Deliver prompt, actionable advice to managers to ensure equitable, uniform, and regulation-compliant management of employee issues, thereby reducing operational and reputational risks.

Serve as a panel member during disciplinary hearings, upholding the principles of due process, procedural fairness, and accurate documentation in alignment with organizational policies and relevant labor laws.

Cultivate strong, open relationships with employee representatives and workplace committees, ensuring clear communication, mutual trust, and collaborative efforts to uphold a productive and regulation-compliant work environment.

Maintain accurate and confidential disciplinary records by proficiently managing the ER tracker, ensuring seamless access to information for audits and decision-making processes.

Collaborate on the regular assessment and revision of the HR Manual to maintain continuous compliance with employment laws, regulatory standards, and emerging trends in the banking industry.

Develops and implements performance management strategies to enhance employee productivity and engagement. Conducts regular evaluations to assess individual and team performance against established goals. Identifies areas for improvement and provides constructive feedback to support professional growth. Collaborates with leadership to align performance objectives with organizational goals. Tracks progress and trends to inform decision-making and resource allocation. Ensures compliance with performance-related policies and procedures while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous development.

Facilitate the organization and dissemination of performance review schedules and associated communications.

Assist employees and managers throughout the performance management process to ensure clarity and effectiveness.

Monitor progress and verify that reviews are completed punctually.

Ensure precise performance metrics are meticulously recorded and compile detailed performance reports.

Support the establishment of objectives, facilitate the gathering of feedback, and coordinate the scheduling of review sessions.

Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold all HR policy guidelines at all times.

Employee Wellness initiatives are designed to promote holistic health and well-being among staff members, encompassing physical, mental, and emotional health support. These programs may include access to fitness facilities, mental health resources, wellness workshops, and preventive healthcare services. The goal is to enhance employee satisfaction, reduce stress, and foster a healthier, more productive work environment. Participation is typically voluntary, and employees may receive incentives or recognition for engagement in wellness activities. Employers often provide resources such as on-site yoga classes, ergonomic assessments, or nutrition counseling to support overall well-being.

The role involves assisting with the implementation of the Bank’s Employee Wellness Program, guaranteeing the seamless coordination of wellness initiatives in alignment with the approved Wellness Calendar. This encompasses collaborating with accredited wellness service providers, managing activity schedules, fostering staff engagement, and maintaining prompt and professional communication with employees.

Support strategic inclusion and employee engagement initiatives—such as diversity forums and employee resource groups—by managing logistics, communications, and feedback systems to strengthen program efficacy and maximize impact.

Support the organization and implementation of employee engagement initiatives, including year-end events and various engagement forums designed to foster collaboration, alignment, and a cohesive organizational culture.

Co-create and roll out employee recognition initiatives across the organization and individual departments, encompassing both formal accolades and peer-driven acknowledgment systems, with the aim of strengthening a culture characterized by high performance.

Craft compelling and easy-to-understand communication materials focused on employee wellness programs, policy updates, and engagement initiatives, while ensuring strict adherence to internal communication standards.

You are expected to meet established performance objectives that are in line with the Bank’s HR strategy, balanced scorecard, and individual performance targets, thereby ensuring measurable impact and accountability.

Holders of a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field are required for this position. Advanced degrees or specialized certifications may be preferred, depending on the specific role. A strong academic foundation in the designated subject area is essential to fulfill the responsibilities of the role effectively.

A bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or a comparable discipline is required.

Seeking candidates with membership in recognized professional organizations and a history of scholarly publications to enhance credibility and expertise in the field.

A professional member of the International Human Resource Management (HRM) community.

While possessing the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is considered advantageous, it is not an absolute requirement for this role.
