What You’ll Do

At DAKOTA, you will assume leadership of the AI Operations team from the outset, taking full ownership of its delivery, expansion, and impact measurement. Your responsibilities will include developing automation solutions and AI-driven agents for internal applications while serving as a trusted advisor to Engineering teams, facilitating the integration of AI into customer-facing products. We invite you to contribute to an innovative blend of advanced AI technology and mission-driven initiatives that advance digital and financial inclusion throughout Africa.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, overseeing project timelines and deliverables, and leading cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives. You will be tasked with analyzing performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and executing solutions to optimize productivity. Additionally, you will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals, manage budgets, and report on progress to senior leadership. This role requires strong leadership skills, proficiency in data-driven decision-making, and the ability to drive innovation while maintaining high standards of accountability.

Oversee a team of two AI Ops Engineers, taking full ownership of their project delivery, technical development, and daily operational responsibilities.

Efficiently prioritize tasks by adeptly managing competing requests from various teams, leveraging a well-defined prioritization framework that you will contribute to developing and refining.

Develop and deploy automation solutions and intelligent agents designed to deliver tangible enhancements to the efficiency and effectiveness of both internal operational teams and customer-facing personnel.

Maintain the robustness and efficiency of the AI tooling infrastructure as its adoption expands to support over 2,500 employees.

To remain abreast of evolving AI tools and technologies, assess their practical applications and distinguish between fleeting trends and genuinely impactful innovations.

Assist in enhancing AI training initiatives for the broader organization, specifically for Engineering teams.

Our ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic technical environment, leveraging expertise in cutting-edge tools, systems, and methodologies to drive innovation and efficiency. Familiarity with modern programming languages, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices is essential, along with a commitment to continuous learning and adaptability in a fast-evolving landscape. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, problem-solving under pressure, and a passion for technical excellence are key to success in this role.

Proficient in leveraging advanced AI and agentic frameworks, including but not limited to Claude, Claude Code, and Anthropic tooling, as well as Lang Chain, MCP, and Google ADK (or comparable agentic development tools).

Automating processes and building prototypes require expertise in scripting, workflow optimization, and AI-driven development, along with the ability to deliver rapid solutions using platforms such as Tercel and Railway.

Enterprise Tooling: We develop and maintain identity automation solutions using Microsoft Entra, manage internal platforms, and integrate systems with Notion and HiBob to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency.

Twelve months have already passed since the implementation of automation solutions using Claude, Notion, HiBob, and Entry in our production environment.

Our Approach

Craft tangible solutions rather than providing recommendations alone; this collaborative team focuses on developing and deploying functional automations and agents.

Demonstrate tangible value initially by initiating the process with a team of two engineers, then scale efforts effectively based on measurable outcomes.

A strong emphasis is placed on adopting a product-focused mindset, treating internal teams as valued customers, and developing tooling solutions that are both effective and reliable.

Assess emerging AI tools based on their tangible benefits rather than promotional claims, focusing on practical applications and measurable outcomes.

What You Need

We seek a technically proficient, product-driven professional to drive innovation within our operations. While our Data Science teams handle model development, this role focuses on designing agents, implementing automations, and guiding a team to enhance the efficiency and intelligence of DAKOTA’s internal processes.

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is necessary for this role.

Demonstrated expertise in automation development through practical application, including scripting, workflow optimization tools, or AI-driven development solutions.

Experienced professionals with practical expertise in developing AI agents using agentic frameworks such as Lang Chain, MCP, Google ADK, or comparable tools are encouraged to apply.

Proficiency with enterprise tooling is required, including rapid prototyping platforms such as Tercel or Railway, identity automation solutions like Entry, or internal platform development.

You possess demonstrated experience in leading and developing teams of engineers, having successfully guided or mentored them to achieve project delivery and professional growth.
