Purpose
The Senior Accountant specializing in Asset Management is tasked with overseeing all asset-related accounting activities, including the preparation of asset registers, implementing risk management protocols, and managing accruals, prepayments, and tax filings to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, the role involves maintaining tax compliance, handling payables and expenses, and ensuring adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in financial reporting. The position also encompasses the management of internal controls, coordination of audit processes, and participation in budgeting and forecasting initiatives in alignment with company policies.

Reports to the Finance Manager and collaborates extensively with Projects, Operations, and other internal teams. Additionally, interacts with external stakeholders, including suppliers and auditors, to ensure alignment and compliance.

Facilitates the development and implementation of budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

Execute comprehensive accounting processes for all asset categories, including fixed assets, intangible assets, and lease arrangements under IFRS 16, ensuring full adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards.
Perform fixed asset verification and assign asset tags to maintain an accurate, real-time asset register in partnership with the operations team.
Monitor accruals and prepayments to ensure precise recognition timing and compliance with established accounting policies, reconciling discrepancies as necessary.
Oversee the asset management function, encompassing the preparation and maintenance of the asset register, schedules, reports, and reconciliations.
Compile audit-ready schedules and supporting documentation for assets, accruals, prepayments, and tax-related items. Assist in the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and management reports.
Maintain adherence to tax regulations by overseeing VAT and WHT filings, conducting monthly reconciliations, and updating internal ledgers.
Oversee asset risk management by ensuring the prompt renewal of insurance policies for all assets.
Perform treasury operations and ensure compliance-related activities for the holding entity.
Record and defer commissions in accordance with contractual obligations and anticipated revenue recognition.
Handle additional responsibilities as directed by management from time to time.

A member in good standing with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (IC PAK) or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ARCA) is required.
Proficient in IFRS standards, with a strong understanding of US GAAP considered beneficial.
Requires at least six years of hands-on experience in a high-volume finance setting, with a primary emphasis on asset management and regulatory compliance.
Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred.
Experienced with QuickBooks and asset management systems, with a proven track record of hands-on application and operational proficiency.
Proficiency in Oracle represents a valuable asset for this role.
Demonstrated experience in leadership and project management will be considered advantageous.
