Purpose

The Senior Accountant in Asset Management is tasked with overseeing the accounting processes for all assets, ensuring accurate maintenance of the fixed assets register, and implementing risk management protocols for asset-related activities. Additionally, the role involves accounting for accruals and prepayments, handling tax filings and compliance matters, and preparing financial reports in accordance with applicable IFRS standards. The position further encompasses the management of payables and expenses, the strengthening of internal controls, the facilitation of audit processes, and the contribution to budgeting and forecasting initiatives aligned with company policies.

Job Magnitude

Reports directly to the Finance Manager and collaborates extensively with the Projects, Operations, and other internal teams. Key external stakeholders include suppliers and auditors.

This position plays a critical role in upholding financial integrity by ensuring full and precise recognition of assets, expenses, and accruals. It significantly influences the quality of financial reporting, audit preparedness, and stakeholder contentment through timely audit completion and robust internal controls.

Facilitates the preparation and execution of budgets and financial forecasts in accordance with organizational requirements.

Performs a range of essential duties and fulfills key responsibilities, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. Manages daily operations, prioritizes workloads, and addresses any arising challenges to support seamless workflows. Develops and implements strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and drive continuous improvement across the department. Maintains thorough documentation, tracks performance metrics, and provides regular reports to stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.

Handle full-cycle accounting for all asset classes, including tangible, intangible, and lease assets under IFRS 16, ensuring strict adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards.

Perform fixed asset verification and affix asset tags to maintain real-time accuracy of the asset register, working in conjunction with the operations team.

Monitor accruals and prepayments diligently, ensuring precise timing of recognition and strict adherence to established accounting policies.

Oversee the asset management function by maintaining the asset register, schedules, reports, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Compile a meticulously organized audit-ready schedule encompassing assets, accruals, prepayments, and tax-related items. Provide comprehensive support for budgeting initiatives, financial forecasting, and the preparation of management reports.

Ensure adherence to tax regulations by managing VAT and WHT filings, conducting monthly reconciliations, and updating internal ledgers accordingly.

Oversee asset risk mitigation by ensuring the timely renewal of insurance policies for all assets.

Perform treasury operations and ensure compliance-related activities for the holding entity to maintain financial integrity and regulatory adherence.

Accurately document and postpone commissions according to the stipulated terms of the contract and anticipated revenue streams.

Execute all duties delegated by management as required.

Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with 3+ years of experience in software development. Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++ is required, along with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment. The ideal applicant will have experience with Agile methodologies and a passion for continuous learning and innovation. Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Proficient in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), with a working understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) considered beneficial.

Requires a minimum of six years of professional experience within a high-volume finance setting, with particular emphasis on asset management and regulatory compliance.

Experience using Microsoft Excel at an advanced level is a desirable qualification.

Proficiency in utilizing QuickBooks and asset management systems is required, with practical experience in their operation and implementation.

Proficiency in Oracle represents an additional asset for this position.

Proficiency in leadership and project management would provide a competitive edge.
