Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, the Quality Assurance Manager will spearhead quality assurance initiatives, provide oversight for quality control measures throughout the supply chain, and administer audits and compliance protocols. The role will involve managing quality teams while ensuring strict compliance with both local and international food safety and export standards, including Global. A.P., HACCP, BRC, phytosanitary regulations, and any additional customer-specific mandates.

Oversee a range of critical responsibilities essential to the role, including managing daily operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and fostering a productive work environment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project execution, meet organizational goals, and enhance operational efficiency. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve processes, streamline workflows, and support long-term business objectives. Monitor performance metrics, analyze data trends, and provide actionable insights to leadership to inform decision-making. Maintain strong communication channels with stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency, and accountability across all departments. Additionally, mentor team members, identify training needs, and promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

Ensure adherence to quality assurance and food safety standards through systematic oversight of production processes and regulatory compliance. Implement and maintain robust food safety management systems, including HACCP, GMP, and other relevant frameworks, to mitigate risks and uphold industry best practices. Conduct regular inspections, audits, and testing to verify compliance with food safety regulations and internal quality benchmarks. Identify and address deviations promptly, fostering a culture of continuous improvement across all operational stages. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enforce stringent quality control protocols, ensuring product integrity and consumer trust. Train and mentor staff on food safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance methodologies to reinforce organizational competency.

Responsible for designing, executing, and overseeing quality assurance frameworks, food safety protocols, and stringent quality benchmarks to ensure optimal avocado maturity, proper sizing, accurate coloration, ideal firmness, visual appeal, precise weight, appropriate ripeness, and uniform product consistency.

The candidate will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining quality standards throughout the supply chain process. This includes conducting regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Additionally, they will collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to address quality discrepancies, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with quality management systems are essential for success in this role.

Ensure rigorous quality control measures are implemented throughout sourcing, harvesting, packing, storage, transportation, and export operations. Perform systematic inspections of incoming produce and oversee post-harvest handling practices to minimize bruising, spoilage, contamination, and product losses.

Compliance, Audits & Certification

To uphold adherence to both local and international food safety regulations as well as export standards, this role requires overseeing compliance. Additionally, the position involves spearheading internal quality audits and facilitating external inspections conducted by regulatory bodies, certification agencies, and export clients.

The role involves addressing customer complaints and implementing corrective actions to resolve issues effectively. Responsibilities include managing customer inquiries, investigating complaints, and ensuring timely resolution to maintain satisfaction. Additionally, the position requires analyzing trends in complaints to identify root causes and proposing preventive measures to enhance service quality. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach are essential for success.

Seeking applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least three years of hands-on experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-standard software tools and strong analytical skills are essential requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities efficiently. Familiarity with regulatory guidelines, data analysis techniques, and project management best practices is highly advantageous. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. A commitment to continuous learning and adaptability in a fast-paced environment is expected.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Microbiology, or a closely related discipline is required.

At least 7 years’ experience in a quality assurance role within the food processing industry.

Proficient in quality control procedures, testing methodologies, regulatory compliance, and food safety standards with a thorough understanding of their application and importance.

Proficiency in quality management systems, laboratory operations, audits, and export compliance is advantageous.
