Job Summary
Pearl Hospital, a Level 4 multi-specialty facility in Lavinia County, is searching for an Optical Technician to support the delivery of superior optical services. This role involves dispensing optical products, fitting and repairing eyewear, performing basic optical measurements, and delivering exceptional customer care to patients. Oversee a comprehensive range of critical duties encompassing project management, team leadership, and strategic planning to ensure operational excellence and organizational growth. Develop and implement innovative solutions to address complex challenges, fostering a culture of efficiency and continuous improvement. Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders to align objectives, streamline processes, and drive performance outcomes. Monitor key performance indicators, analyze data trends, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership to inform decision-making and resource allocation. Interpret and provide medications as prescribed by Optometrists or Ophthalmologists.
Provide guidance to patients in choosing suitable frames, lenses, and optical accessories to meet their vision and style preferences.
Accurately record pupillary distance (PD), segment height, and frame fitting measurements with precision.
Skilled technicians will perform precise fitting, adjustment, and repair services for spectacles and various optical devices, ensuring optimal functionality and customer satisfaction through meticulous maintenance.
Oversee the accurate documentation and management of inventory for frames, lenses, contact lenses, and optical supplies to ensure optimal stock levels and operational efficiency.
Before dispensing, meticulously inspect and verify optical orders for their precision and correctness.
Ensure that all optical equipment and tools are consistently clean, fully operational, and maintained in accordance with established standards.
Accurate maintenance of patient and dispensing records is required, ensuring compliance with established hospital policies.
Oversee the management of stock-taking and procurement procedures for optical supplies.
Comply with all Infection Prevention and Control protocols while ensuring the workspace remains consistently clean and sanitized.
Take part in initiatives aimed at enhancing quality standards within the optical department, contributing to ongoing efforts to maintain and elevate service excellence.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with at least three years of professional experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, as is the ability to work independently while meeting tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional problem-solving abilities and a commitment to continuous learning. Familiarity with project management methodologies is a plus.
Obtained a Diploma or Certificate in Optical Technology or Optician from an accredited institution.
Membership in the appropriate professional organization, as required, is mandatory.
A minimum of one to two years of practical experience in an optical clinic, hospital, or eyewear retail environment is highly beneficial.
Proficient in optical lenses, frames, and contact lenses, along with dispensing procedures, is required.
