About the Job

MPAA Research Centre is currently seeking a technically proficient and self-driven IT Assistant to become part of its Information Technology team.

This position delivers primary IT support for both office and field operations, maintaining dependable systems, uninterrupted communications, and precise data reporting within a fast-paced research and conservation setting.

The IT Assistant will function as the primary technical support liaison for users, addressing hardware, software, and network-related inquiries while also facilitating IT asset management and the operation of the Earth Ranger domain awareness system.

Overseeing critical functions within the organization, this position entails spearheading strategic initiatives, managing cross-functional teams, and ensuring alignment with company objectives. The role requires a proven ability to lead complex projects, drive operational efficiency, and foster innovation while maintaining high standards of accountability. Responsibilities include developing and executing business strategies, optimizing team performance, and cultivating collaborative relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Additionally, the position demands strong analytical skills to assess market trends, mitigate risks, and make data-driven decisions to propel sustained growth.

Deliver primary IT support for desktop and laptop systems, printers, software applications, and user access-related issues.

Diagnose and resolve network and connectivity issues to prevent escalation to the IT Manager.

Oversee the upkeep of a precise IT asset inventory and facilitate consistent audit processes.

Facilitate Earth Ranger reporting processes, extract relevant data, and conduct preliminary analyses to support operational decision-making.

Monitor IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, executing regular maintenance tasks, installing critical updates, and promptly addressing technical issues as they arise.

Deliver comprehensive IT and communication assistance to field teams and remote operational units.

Oversee and maintain Turbojet radio communication systems, along with field connectivity tools, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Oversee the upkeep of IT documentation, compile and curate knowledge base articles, and ensure standard operating procedures remain current and accurate.

Facilitate the seamless integration and departure of employees by overseeing system configurations and managing access permissions.

Seeking candidates with a proven track record in the field, supported by relevant qualifications and substantial hands-on experience. A valid Kenyan driving license, accompanied by an unblemished driving history, is an essential requirement for this position.

Demonstrates a readiness to undertake extensive travel to field sites and distant operational locations as needed.
