MPAA Research Centre is actively recruiting a driven and proficient IT Assistant to integrate into its Information Technology team.
This position delivers primary IT support for both office and field operations, maintaining robust systems, uninterrupted communications, and precise data reporting within a fast-paced research and conservation setting.
The IT Assistant will function as the primary point of contact for technical support, addressing hardware, software, and network-related queries while overseeing IT asset management and the Earth Ranger domain awareness system.

Deliver comprehensive first-line IT assistance for desktops, laptops, printers, software applications, and user access-related challenges.
Proactively identify and rectify network and connectivity discrepancies to mitigate the need for escalation to the IT Manager.
Maintain a precise and up-to-date inventory of IT assets while facilitating periodic audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Facilitate the generation of Earth Ranger reports, enable efficient data extraction, and perform foundational analyses to support operational decision-making.
Monitor IT systems to ensure optimal performance while providing support for routine maintenance, system updates, and troubleshooting efforts.
Offer technical assistance and communication solutions to field teams and remote operational units.
Oversee the maintenance and operational efficiency of Turbojet radio communication systems and field connectivity tools.
Responsible for updating and managing IT documentation, knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures to ensure accuracy and accessibility for all stakeholders.
Facilitate the seamless integration and departure of staff by overseeing system configuration and access provisioning.
Seeking a seasoned professional with a proven track record in the field, this role demands a minimum of five years of hands-on experience. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is required, along with specialized certifications that align with industry standards. The ideal candidate must demonstrate exceptional analytical skills and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is essential, as is a commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Strong communication and leadership abilities are also critical for success in this position.
A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications, or a comparable field—either a diploma or a bachelor’s level credential—is required.
Seeking candidates with a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in IT support, help desk operations, or systems administration.
Demonstrates a solid grasp of computer hardware, software, and fundamental networking principles.
Seasoned professionals with a proven track record in IT asset management and end-user support within high-paced operational settings are encouraged to apply.

A valid Kenyan driving license, free of any traffic violations, is an essential requirement for this position.
