Deliver exceptional and efficient pharmacy services to patients, collaborating closely with other healthcare professionals within specified areas.
Verify prescriptions to confirm their accuracy and appropriateness, and proactively consult with prescribing physicians to address any discrepancies or concerns, thereby promoting the safe, cost-effective, and appropriate administration of medications and other pharmaceutical products.
Monitor patient reactions to therapeutic interventions, evaluate potential drug-disease interactions, and critically assess prescribed medications for appropriateness based on specific clinical indications.
Document and report any adverse drug reactions observed in patients during their treatment to ensure comprehensive pharmacovigilance monitoring.
Perform ongoing evaluations of treatment sheets and prescriptions to confirm the appropriateness of treatments, identify potential drug interactions, verify dosing accuracy, and ensure all prescribed doses are administered as directed.
Contribute proactively to the medication inventory management process by initiating stock requisitions, receiving deliveries from central stores, and ensuring timely placement on shelves, conducting routine stock checks including daily, random, and quarterly audits, as well as resolving any discrepancies between recorded and physical inventory levels.
Manage all pharmaceutical matters that demand immediate action, including drug pricing adjustments, patient credit reconciliations, and the replacement of damaged or expired inventory.
Verify pharmaceutical stock to confirm the validity of expiry dates, prioritizing the prompt retrieval of medications approaching expiration in strict adherence to the Short Expiry Drug Policy before returning them to inventory.
Ensure meticulous preparation and accurate labeling of extemporaneous preparations for both inpatients and outpatients, as well as solutions designated for ward use.
Contribute to the development and execution of hospital drug utilization policies and pharmacy standard operating procedures.
Engage in ward pharmacy services in alignment with the established Hospital policy.
Perform chemotherapy dispensing and reconstitution procedures in full compliance with the cytotoxic handling policy.
Deliver patient counseling and distribute patient information leaflets to guarantee their accessibility for all in-patients and outpatients as needed.
Ensure ongoing communication with the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya, the Ministry of Health, and other relevant professional organizations to keep the department informed of all emerging advancements in the pharmaceutical sector.
Provide comprehensive on-the-job training and coaching to newly hired staff members and pharmacy technicians to ensure proficiency in their roles.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Earned a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
Must possess current registration with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya and maintain an active, valid practicing license.
A minimum of three years of pharmacy experience, with preference given to candidates who have worked in a hospital setting.
