The Head of Institutional Banking will spearhead the strategic direction and overall management of the Bank’s Institutional Banking portfolio across Kenya, encompassing Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDS), State-Owned Enterprises (Parastatals), Development Finance Institutions (Dais), Multilateral Agencies, and other major public and institutional entities.

Manage the institutional portfolio’s growth and stability by ensuring an optimal balance between assets and liabilities, while prioritizing high-quality investments, risk-adjusted returns, and sustainable practices.
Facilitate the expansion of existing accounts while enhancing collections, payment solutions, escrow services, and wholesale deposit mobilization sourced from institutional clients.
Proactively cultivate and oversee strategic relationships with Government Ministries, County Governments, Parastatal organizations, Development Agencies, and other institutional stakeholders to foster collaborative partnerships and drive mutual objectives forward.
Monitor national and county government development plans, public sector initiatives, public-private partnership programs, and donor-funded projects to detect potential financing and transaction prospects.
Originate, structure, and deliver complex institutional banking solutions, including cash management, trade finance, structured lending, and advisory services.
Maintain consistent, high-level interaction with the National Treasury, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), and other pertinent regulatory authorities to ensure alignment with evolving policy directives and funding opportunities.
Develop and maintain enduring, high-level connections with essential stakeholders, including governmental entities, development partners, and institutional clients.
Deliver exceptional service by proactively engaging with clients, ensuring timely delivery of solutions, and consistently enhancing service standards to achieve high levels of satisfaction.
Serve as the primary escalation contact for key institutional clients, ensuring strategic alignment and resolution of high-priority issues.
Verify compliance with Central Bank of Kenya regulations, internal credit policies, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing mandates, as well as public sector governance frameworks.
Offer comprehensive supervision regarding credit risk management, ensuring optimal portfolio quality and adherence to established exposure limits for institutional clients.
Engage actively in pertinent management and credit committees, offering well-informed perspectives on institutional banking risks and opportunities.
Academic Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a relevant academic background, typically including a bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution. Advanced degrees or specialized certifications may be advantageous, depending on the role. A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, or a closely related discipline is required.

A professional banking or finance qualification, such as AKIN, ACID, or an equivalent credential, is required.

With a minimum of eight to ten years of banking experience, including at least four to five years in senior or managerial capacities within Institutional, Corporate, or Public Sector Banking, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of leadership and strategic decision-making in a complex financial environment.
