Job Purpose:
Deliver the health underwriting mandate by executing risk selection with precision, maintaining pricing discipline, and managing portfolios effectively within designated authority limits. This role is responsible for achieving loss ratio targets, ensuring portfolio quality, and upholding the company’s underwriting philosophy.
Oversee a comprehensive range of duties that include managing daily operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards, and maintaining accurate records of all transactions and activities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and drive business growth. Monitor performance metrics and key indicators to identify trends, address inefficiencies, and propose data-driven solutions to optimize workflows. Perform comprehensive underwriting assessments for the health insurance portfolio to uphold rigorous risk selection standards, maintain high business quality, and meet profitability and loss ratio objectives.
Assess health risks and determine underwriting outcomes—whether to accept, decline, or adjust applications—within the bounds of delegated authority, ensuring sound technical judgment and strict compliance with established underwriting guidelines.
Assess risk exposure to establish and implement suitable pricing, terms, and conditions, maintaining a careful equilibrium between market competitiveness and disciplined underwriting.
Maintain strict adherence to established underwriting standards, credit policies, and delegated authority limits while upholding robust risk governance and audit preparedness.
Monitor designated risks and execute on risk assessment recommendations, ensuring prompt implementation and ongoing enhancement of portfolio quality.
Partner with business development, claims, and other internal stakeholders to facilitate business acquisition, enhance client retention, and address underwriting-related issues effectively.
Monitor underwriting performance trends, identifying emerging risks or areas of underperformance, and facilitate the implementation of corrective measures to address any issues identified.
Ensure all underwriting documentation and client records are meticulously maintained and fully compliant with both organizational standards and regulatory mandates.
Adhere exclusively to the approved Delegated Authority Matrix and elevate any decisions that fall beyond the designated scope.
Play a key role in enhancing underwriting processes, reducing turnaround times, and elevating service delivery standards.
Perform additional responsibilities as designated to further departmental goals and initiatives.

Obtained a recognized insurance professional qualification such as ACID or INK.
Seeking a candidate with six to eight years of experience in health underwriting, including at least two years in a leadership capacity.

Proven proficiency in reporting and data management is essential.
Proficiency in data visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or comparable tools is highly beneficial.
