The Opportunity

Plan International seeks a seasoned and driven Deployable Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Gender in Emergencies Specialist to strengthen our global Core Surge Team.

In this position, you will be responsible for swift deployment to global humanitarian crises—typically within 72 hours—where you will provide technical guidance to prioritize gender equality, inclusion, and protection against gender-based violence as core elements of our emergency response strategies.

You will operate at the core of crisis response efforts, collaborating with country teams to implement high-quality, gender-transformative programs that address the needs of girls, young people, and vulnerable populations.

What You’ll Be Doing

We seek a dynamic individual to provide expert technical guidance and oversee program implementation, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. The role demands extensive experience in technical domains, coupled with the ability to mentor teams and drive cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities include defining technical standards, resolving complex issues, and delivering high-impact solutions to enhance operational efficiency. Lead and enhance gender-based violence (GBV) initiatives with a focus on supporting child and adolescent survivors through targeted programming and strategic interventions.

Mainstream gender considerations in all humanitarian programs to ensure inclusivity and equity.

Deliver specialized direction in accordance with internationally recognized frameworks (IAS, GBV Minimum Standards, Sphere, SEA).

Conduct thorough analysis and provide rapid emergency response to address critical situations as they arise. Implement robust mechanisms for feedback collection, grievance resolution, and participatory decision-making to uphold accountability standards and promote trust. Monitor and evaluate AAP compliance regularly, addressing gaps and reinforcing best practices to safeguard the rights and dignity of affected individuals. Collaborate cross-functionally with program teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to integrate AAP considerations into project design, implementation, and evaluation phases. Maintain accurate documentation of AAP-related activities, ensuring alignment with organizational policies, donor requirements, and international humanitarian standards.

Foster inclusive engagement of girls and women in program initiatives to ensure their active and impactful involvement.

About You

We seek a highly skilled specialist possessing the following qualifications and expertise:

Extensive expertise in developing and implementing gender-based violence (GBV) programs, with a particular emphasis on initiatives serving children within humanitarian settings.

Proficient in conducting gender analysis and implementing strategies to mitigate inequalities in emergency contexts.

Professionals with prior engagement in United Nations bodies, international non-governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, or inter-agency frameworks are strongly encouraged to apply.
