Job Purpose:
This position serves to drive organizational success by executing key responsibilities that support overarching business objectives. The Manager will spearhead the agribusiness division, advancing the bank’s commitment to fostering sustainable agricultural growth throughout Kenya. This position entails supervising a broad portfolio encompassing smallholder farmers, dairy cooperatives, arises, and climate-smart agriculture initiatives. The role demands strategic direction, product innovation, risk mitigation, and stakeholder collaboration to amplify the bank’s influence in the agricultural domain.

Oversee critical operational duties encompassing strategic planning, team leadership, and performance optimization to ensure seamless workflow execution and organizational efficiency. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain high standards of quality and compliance with industry regulations. Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders to align goals, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress, identify areas for enhancement, and implement data-driven solutions. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional development within the team to achieve long-term success and sustainability.

Envision and implement the bank’s agribusiness strategy, ensuring alignment with overarching corporate objectives and prevailing market conditions.

Portfolio Management: Responsible for the strategic oversight of a multifaceted agribusiness portfolio encompassing sectors such as dairy, horticulture, livestock, and agricultural renewable energy.

Drive the development and implementation of innovative financing strategies tailored to deliver affordable credit solutions for agribusinesses, with an emphasis on bolstering climate resilience and promoting environmentally sustainable operational practices.

Develop and sustain high-impact partnerships with key development organizations to drive mutual growth and strategic alignment.

Government entities, along with key players in the industry, collaborate closely to achieve shared objectives. These stakeholders work together to develop policies, implement initiatives, and address challenges within the public and private sectors.

Lead the creation of customized financial solutions specifically designed to meet the distinct requirements of agribusiness enterprises.

Develop and enforce comprehensive risk assessment frameworks to uphold portfolio integrity and adherence to environmental and social governance requirements.

Provide strategic guidance and support to cultivate a top-performing agribusiness team, driving excellence and fostering a culture of continuous innovation through mentorship and development.

Monitor industry developments, track policy shifts, and evaluate technological innovations to provide data-driven insights for strategic planning and decision-making.

Seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, complemented by at least three years of professional experience in software development or a comparable technical role. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential, along with expertise in software design principles, algorithms, and data structures. Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality technical solutions are required. Prior experience with agile methodologies, cloud services, or DevOps practices is highly desirable.

A Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agribusiness, finance, or a closely related discipline is required.

A master’s degree can provide a competitive edge.

Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 years in banking or financial services is required, including at least 5 years focused on agribusiness financing or comparable fields.

Sector Expertise: Demonstrates extensive knowledge of agricultural value chains, climate-smart agricultural practices, and rural financial systems.

Demonstrates a strong ability to guide teams and oversee cross-functional initiatives effectively, with a history of successful leadership in collaborative environments.

Proficient in fostering meaningful interactions and conveying ideas effectively to a wide range of stakeholders.
