Job Overview:

SHOCK seeks a community-driven professional to deliver essential wraparound support to Kenya’s most vulnerable girls, ensuring they enroll, attend school, and thrive. The Scholarship Coordinator will oversee and manage SHOCK’s scholarship program, driving re-enrollment efforts in one of five target counties while serving as on-the-ground support for scholarship recipients. Acting as a vital link between SHOCK, schools, scholars, and families, the Coordinator will foster strong, authentic relationships to identify and comprehensively support recipients. This position will be integrated into SHOCK’s SUN (SHOCK Urban Network) approach, reinforcing grassroots-based scholar identification and support.

Oversee and execute critical duties and obligations encompassing the following key areas: driving strategic initiatives, ensuring compliance with organizational standards, fostering collaboration across departments, analyzing performance metrics to identify trends, and implementing process improvements. Additionally, the position requires managing stakeholder relationships, leading cross-functional teams, and maintaining alignment with company objectives. Responsibilities also include overseeing budget adherence, reporting on key results, and championing innovation to enhance operational efficiency. Develop and maintain robust connections within the Scholar Support Ecosystem to foster collaboration and enhance support mechanisms.

Collaborate with SUN Committees to partner with public school leadership—including principals and Bursars—in facilitating seamless onboarding and ongoing assistance for scholarship recipients.

Collaborate closely with the SUN and Gender department to pinpoint students who satisfy the established eligibility requirements for assistance.

We will partner with the Scholarship Officer, SUN facilitators, and Gender team to provide mentorship and holiday programming, overseeing all logistical arrangements.

Collaborate with families to empower them in supporting scholars’ academic progress and emotional welfare, clarifying their essential role in mentoring the scholars.

Cultivate strategic alliances with community organizations and governmental bodies that serve at-risk girls, such as adolescent mothers, to establish and strengthen collaborative frameworks that facilitate scholar recruitment and ongoing support initiatives.

Lead the advancement of Case Management initiatives while championing Scholar Welfare and overall wellbeing initiatives, ensuring comprehensive support systems are in place to foster a thriving academic and personal environment for all participants.

Designed to champion scholar welfare and wellbeing, this role involves providing mentorship to scholarship recipients as required.

Parents and guardians of beneficiaries must be proactively engaged and kept informed on all relevant matters to ensure students remain enrolled in school. Any arising issues should be promptly identified and escalated to the Scholarship Officer for timely resolution.

Proactively identify and flag students who are at risk of leaving their education prematurely or those requiring psychosocial support.

Meet with incoming scholarship recipients and their families to facilitate their integration into the scholarship programs and outline relevant policies, ensuring they are fully prepared to commence their academic journey.

Collaborate closely with Sun committees to advance community ownership and accountability initiatives, ensuring alignment with established goals and fostering a shared sense of responsibility.

Escalate cases requiring further attention to the Gender team as necessary.

Data Management and Support professionals play a pivotal role in overseeing monitoring, evaluation, and learning initiatives, ensuring the seamless collection, processing, and analysis of high-quality data. They are responsible for maintaining robust data systems, implementing rigorous quality assurance protocols, and providing technical assistance to project teams. Additionally, these specialists facilitate data-driven decision-making by generating insightful reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
