POSITION SUMMARY

The Finance Assistant will provide essential support to NEAR’s financial operations in the Nairobi office, overseeing routine finance functions such as generating purchase orders, handling invoice processing and payment disbursements, reconciling accounts, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring adherence to organizational policies, established procedures, and donor-specific mandates. This position will play a key role in maintaining precise financial documentation, facilitating prompt reporting, and delivering streamlined assistance during audit engagements and month-end closing procedures.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to fill this role, requiring a strong foundation in relevant technical competencies and educational credentials. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in key areas such as project management, analytical problem-solving, and effective communication. Additionally, prior experience in a similar capacity is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment. A commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to evolving industry standards is also expected.

A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required, with a preference for candidates holding professional accounting qualifications.

Requires a minimum of one year of professional experience in finance or accounting roles, with practical exposure to budgeting, reporting, and compliance processes. Strong proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and managing donor-specific budgets is essential.

Demonstrates exceptional mastery of Microsoft Office applications and advanced financial analytics software, with a proven ability to leverage these tools to drive data-driven insights and decision-making.

Proficiency in donor budgeting and reporting, coupled with a foundational knowledge of donor compliance regulations, is essential.
