Responsibilities
Facilitate the structured compilation and categorization of WCR project documents to enhance accessibility and foster collaborative knowledge exchange.
Review the WUF13 reports and proceedings to extract and consolidate the essential discussions, focusing on the prominent themes and compelling arguments presented in the WCR 2026.
Assist in coordinating both internal and external post-launch events, preparing essential background materials, and authoring reports.
Ensure the accuracy and consistency of all information and referenced sources in WCR post-launch reports through thorough cross-checking.
Conduct comprehensive desktop research to evaluate and monitor the impact of WCR2026, ensuring thorough documentation and analysis of findings.
Provide support in performing literature reviews, gathering data, and conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses to help conceptualize WCR2028.
Offer adaptable and on-demand assistance whenever assigned or necessary by the supervisor.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues on additional tasks essential for advancing the section’s work program as needed.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in software development or a comparable role. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential, as is familiarity with software development methodologies like Agile or Scrum. Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills are also necessary, along with the capacity to work effectively both independently and within a team. Prior experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus.
Applicants must satisfy one of the following criteria at the time of application:
Enrolled in a graduate-level academic program, such as a second university degree or higher, or possessing equivalent qualifications, is required.
Currently pursuing the final year of a first university degree program at the bachelor’s level or its equivalent is required. Alternatively, possession of a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree—or an equivalent qualification—is also acceptable.
Proficient in utilizing standard software applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong foundation in computer literacy.
Individuals should exhibit a strong enthusiasm for the United Nations’ mission and uphold a sincere dedication to the principles enshrined in its Charter.
Demonstrated proficiency in collaborating effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and belief systems, encompassing a commitment to embracing differing opinions and perspectives with openness and tolerance.
Areas of study that are advantageous include Urban Studies, Urban Planning, Geography, Economics, Development Studies, or any closely related field. Proven expertise in research methodologies, data collection and analysis, as well as familiarity with project management tools, is highly valued. Candidates applying to the UN Internship Program need not possess prior professional work experience.
A relevant field of study closely aligned with the internship opportunity is mandatory. Eligible candidates must either be enrolled in their final year of a bachelor’s or equivalent program, a master’s or Ph.D. program, or have already completed one of these academic qualifications.
