We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team in the specified role. The English Teacher will design and deliver dynamic, inquiry-focused lessons aimed at enhancing students’ proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and critical analysis. This position requires the development and execution of lessons aligned with the IB curriculum, the assessment of student learning through criterion-referenced methods, and the cultivation of a profound appreciation for language and literature. Additionally, the teacher will foster students’ overall growth, encourage autonomous thinking, and help maintain a supportive, inclusive classroom environment.

The role may also encompass the Head of Department position, offering leadership, curricular guidance, and fostering ongoing enhancements in teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

Devise and implement rigorous English lessons in strict adherence to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) and Diploma Program (DP) frameworks, ensuring alignment with established curriculum standards.

Enhance students’ proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and literary analysis through targeted instructional strategies and engaging activities.

Encourage the development of analytical reasoning, innovative thought processes, and a deep understanding of various literary works and viewpoints.

Crafting tailored educational opportunities is essential to address the varying skill levels and learning needs of students.

Employ student-centered and inquiry-driven instructional methodologies to foster active learning and engagement.

Develop and administer both formative and summative assessments aligned with IB (International Baccalaureate) standards and criteria to evaluate student progress and learning outcomes effectively.

Deliver prompt, actionable feedback while ensuring meticulous documentation of student progress records.

Facilitate student readiness for both internal and external assessments, such as International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations.

Foster a classroom atmosphere characterized by safety, inclusivity, and engagement.

Serve as a Homeroom Tutor, providing comprehensive support to address both the academic and pastoral requirements of students.

Engage actively in extracurricular initiatives, including debate societies, theatrical productions, or creative writing clubs, to foster personal growth and collaborative experiences.

Maintain consistent, proactive communication with parents via conferences and multiple outreach methods to foster collaboration and address concerns promptly.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop curriculum frameworks and support school-wide initiatives.

The requirements

Seeking candidates with a proven track record in the specified field, evidenced by relevant education and hands-on experience. Ideal applicants should possess advanced technical skills and specialized knowledge pertinent to the role. Additionally, familiarity with industry-standard tools and methodologies is essential. Prior experience in similar positions, along with demonstrated success in achieving key objectives, is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills are also required to effectively collaborate within a dynamic team environment.

A recognized university must confer a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, with a specialization in English, Literature, or a closely related discipline.

Applicants must possess a valid Teacher’s Service Commission (TSC) registration to be eligible for consideration.

Experienced in delivering instruction within a diverse, multicultural, and international school setting, with a deep grasp of student-centered, inquiry-driven teaching methodologies.

With a minimum of two to three years of hands-on experience delivering instruction under the IB Middle Years Program and/or IB Diploma frameworks—or equivalent curricula—ideally within an international school environment, you bring proven expertise in inquiry-based learning and holistic education.
