Job Description

You will craft, execute, and oversee a cohesive Global Affairs strategy for Kenya, Glove’s flagship Sub-Saharan market and a pivotal force in Africa’s digital economy. In this pivotal phase of growth, you will serve as the primary strategic point of contact on the ground, mitigating a broad spectrum of escalating regulatory risks to protect and strengthen Glove’s business model.

The Global Affairs team comprises three specialized departments: Government Relations, PR & Social Media, and Impact & Sustainability. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in influencing public policy decisions to align with corporate goals, proactively identifying shifts in legislation and regulations, managing the company’s public image through strategic media engagement, and championing our interests to foster an advantageous operational landscape. Additionally, you will expand our social media presence within the country in coordination with the Marketing team.

With an unwavering commitment to driving meaningful progress, you will champion sustainability and social impact initiatives to amplify our positive influence. Serving as a reliable and strategic advisor, you will collaborate across all organizational levels at Glove, fostering alignment and cohesion in all communications to reinforce the company’s core purpose, vision, and mission.

As a valued member of our collaborative team, you will contribute to a dynamic and supportive work environment, working alongside professionals who are committed to excellence. Your role will involve engaging in meaningful projects, leveraging your expertise to drive innovation and deliver impactful results. You will be expected to meet deadlines, adhere to best practices, and actively participate in team meetings and collaborative initiatives to ensure project success. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to grow professionally through mentorship, training, and continuous learning opportunities provided by the organization.

Define, oversee, and implement Glove’s non-market strategy, focusing on public affairs while leveraging communication initiatives, impact-driven projects, and sustainability efforts to enhance overall success and reinforce legitimacy.

Oversee local consultancies and, as required, partner with think tanks, industry associations, and other pivotal stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan.

Serve as a pivotal link between multiple internal teams—including Marketing, Legal, Operations, and others—to foster unified alignment on strategic initiatives that tackle the nation’s most critical challenges, ensuring consistency with overarching business objectives and measurable performance indicators.

Conduct comprehensive assessments to provide management with detailed insights into the local stakeholder landscape, including risks and potential opportunities, while establishing and nurturing key connections across regulatory bodies, government agencies, media outlets, and social platforms.

You will spearhead interactions with senior stakeholders and pivotal policy discussions, serving as Glove’s primary representative in all engagements.

Ensure strategic budget allocation is meticulously planned and executed to drive meaningful, scalable results.

Responsible for managing public relations communications and overseeing social media strategies, this role involves crafting press releases, coordinating media outreach, and maintaining brand consistency across all digital platforms. Key responsibilities include developing engaging content, monitoring online conversations, and analyzing performance metrics to refine communication approaches. The ideal candidate should possess strong writing skills, a deep understanding of social media trends, and experience with analytics tools. Proficiency in crisis communication and stakeholder engagement is also required, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to amplify brand messaging.

Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive external communication strategies, with a strong emphasis on elevating brand visibility, strengthening Glove’s public image, and driving business expansion through both Corporate and Consumer PR initiatives.

Foster strategic alignment and uniformity in Glove’s communications with the media, cultivating enduring, high-value connections with journalists, media organizations, and influential technology industry thought leaders throughout the region.

Craft engaging social media content tailored specifically for Instagram and LinkedIn, while also exploring additional platforms where Kenyan audiences are active.

Measure and evaluate key performance indicators from public relations and social media initiatives to assess their impact, while guiding strategic refinements based on data insights to optimize results.

Regional oversight of crisis communications, guaranteeing prompt and polished responses when required.

Transforming business operations through strategic initiatives that drive measurable social and environmental outcomes while ensuring long-term viability and resilience. This role focuses on integrating sustainable practices into core business strategies, measuring impact through key performance indicators, and fostering partnerships that amplify positive change. Candidates must possess expertise in sustainability frameworks, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration, along with a proven ability to align business objectives with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals. Responsibilities include developing and implementing sustainability roadmaps, reporting on progress to stakeholders, and identifying innovative solutions to reduce environmental footprints while enhancing operational efficiency.

Identify strategic openings to develop and execute a bold Impact & Sustainability strategy, one that fosters meaningful progress while simultaneously minimizing our adverse environmental and social footprint.

Facilitate alignment between all impact initiatives and Global Affairs objectives by cultivating strategic partnerships and expanding our organizational presence.

Leverage comprehensive global toolkits and data resources to synchronize the I&S strategy with our primary business objectives and the overarching global I&S plan. In collaboration with the regional Africa Impact Lead and local teams, implement initiatives efficiently and effectively, while actively identifying fresh opportunities for partnership with local organizations.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, reporting, or a closely related area is necessary. Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and advanced Excel skills is essential. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams are crucial. Experience with ERP systems, such as SAP or Oracle, is preferred. Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory compliance standards is mandatory. Exceptional analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail are key attributes for success in this role.

With a minimum of seven to ten years’ experience in Government Relations, Public Affairs, or Public Relations, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in these fields.

Professionals with leadership experience in diverse fields such as legal and corporate affairs, industrial relations, or the public sector are encouraged to apply, even if they are considering a career transition.

You demonstrate an exceptional grasp of Kenya’s intricate political landscape and the nuanced dynamics of informal channels, enabling you to adeptly manage institutional partnerships and address multifaceted governmental challenges.

With a creative mindset, you will oversee social media initiatives, orchestrate influencer-driven consumer campaigns, and capitalize on business milestones to solidify Glove’s position as a leader in the industry and a key contributor to socioeconomic progress.

As a decisive and composed professional, you navigate and resolve high-stakes regulatory changes, media frenzies, or social media crises with precision and efficiency, even under extreme pressure and stringent time constraints.

You demonstrate a strategic “doer” mindset, embodying a proactive approach that values direct action over delegation. With a startup mentality, you enthusiastically roll up your sleeves to take decisive steps each day, ensuring the protection and reinforcement of our business model.

Based in Nairobi, you will provide on-the-ground leadership, with the capacity to travel as needed to any of our 12 operational cities. Your role demands native or fluent English language skills, complemented by outstanding interpersonal capabilities essential for high-stakes engagement.
