Job Purpose
The Managing Director & CEO will oversee the strategic planning, design, construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage electricity transmission grids and regional power interconnectors.
The position also reports to the Board of Directors, overseeing the formulation and execution of the Company’s strategic direction, vision, mission, and objectives. Additionally, it involves mobilizing and managing organizational resources, providing decisive leadership, and ensuring alignment with the mandate outlined in Sessional Paper No. 4 of 2004 on Energy, Energy Act No. 1 of 2019, and the provisions of the State Corporations Act, Cap 446.
Oversee the execution of core duties, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and maintaining high standards of performance. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project completion and foster a culture of accountability. Manage stakeholder relationships to ensure clear communication and strategic alignment. Monitor progress through performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions. Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, promoting professional growth and development. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
Demonstrating leadership to senior management and staff through strategic guidance and collaborative decision-making processes.

Fostering national and regional power trade initiatives to advance socio-economic growth remains a key objective.
Offering strategic leadership and oversight of the company’s operational activities in alignment with the directives and policies established by the Board of Directors.
Supervising the execution of all Government Directs, Administrative Circulars, and
Executive Orders pertinent to the Company’s mandate have been issued.
Ensuring adherence to regulatory standards throughout the formulation, development, and execution of strategic objectives, policies, and plans.
Establishing and nurturing high-impact collaborations with regulators, government ministries, departments, agencies, development partners, and both domestic and international stakeholders is essential to this role.
Responsible for managing the acquisition of goods, works, and services, as well as overseeing inventory control and asset disposal, in strict compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Mobilizing resources is essential to execute the Company’s Strategic Plan, leveraging the Exchequer, Development Finance Institutions, Public-Private Partnership (PPP), and other alternative funding channels to ensure robust implementation.
Responsible for driving the execution of new revenue streams and strategic business initiatives within the organization.
Providing strategic guidance to the Board of Directors regarding potential business ventures aimed at strengthening the Company’s expansion and long-term viability.
Developing and enforcing human resource policies and organizational frameworks that are transparent, equitable, and incorporate a well-defined succession planning process.
Overseeing corruption prevention strategies involves executing established policies and submitting regular reports to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACH).
Effectively managing corporate risks, maintaining rigorous quality assurance standards, and implementing robust internal controls are essential responsibilities.
Fostering a favorable and professional corporate reputation is a key responsibility of this role.
Devising and overseeing the execution of the Strategic Plan, Business Strategies, and tariff revenue requirements to align with the Company’s short- and long-term objectives.
Remaining abreast of market dynamics and industry trends relevant to the Company’s operations, enabling strategic decision-making and competitive advantage.
Business and investment landscapes evolve continuously, presenting fresh prospects for growth and expansion.
Ensure that the annual budget, procurement plan, work plan, and performance contract remain in complete alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives and priorities.
The role involves maintaining precise financial and accounting records for the company in strict adherence to applicable regulations and legal standards.
Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Must have at least 3 years of professional experience in software development, including proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential. Familiarity with agile methodologies and version control systems like Git is required. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities are also necessary to convey technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
The position requires a relevant academic qualification, such as a degree in a related field. Candidates must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
A master’s degree from an accredited institution is required.

Membership in relevant professional organizations is a prerequisite for this role. Additionally, the candidate must possess recognized professional qualifications to meet the stringent standards of the position.
Membership in a relevant professional body, as applicable and maintained in good standing, is required.
A current and valid professional license or practicing certificate, where applicable, is required.
A recognized institution must issue a Leadership certificate that spans a minimum duration of four weeks.
Demonstrates expertise in utilizing office automation software and tools with a high degree of proficiency.
