Position Summary

The ADT Africa Regional Partner possesses extensive experience in private equity investments within emerging markets, with a strong focus on regulated financial institutions that are pioneering digital financial services tailored for MSMEs, smallholder farmers, and low-income households.

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in utilizing technology to enhance the scalability of financial institutions. They will partner with ADT’s Operating Partner, Action Advisory, Action’s financial inclusion advisory team, and other strategic advisors to craft digitization strategies for organizations. Additionally, the role involves engaging with portfolio company stakeholders, including shareholders, boards, and management teams, to foster alignment and drive implementation.

The Africa Regional Partner will oversee an Investment Analyst, tailoring oversight based on the portfolio’s scale and regional opportunities. Investments in Africa are projected to constitute approximately 25% of the total investible capital, potentially encompassing co-investments by limited partners.

Responsibilities for this role include advancing key initiatives to drive business growth, fostering collaboration across departments to enhance operational efficiency, and overseeing project execution to meet strategic objectives. The position requires delivering high-quality results within defined timelines, analyzing performance data to identify trends and opportunities, and implementing process improvements to optimize workflows. Additionally, the individual in this role will be responsible for mentoring team members, communicating progress to stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to company policies and industry regulations. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills are essential for success in this position.

Collaborating closely with the Managing Partners, the Africa Regional Partner spearheads the comprehensive investment lifecycle for the Africa portfolio, overseeing every phase from initial deal sourcing to execution and eventual exit. The role involves pinpointing equity investment opportunities that align with ADT’s commitment to impact-driven initiatives and its core focus on digital transformation.

Developing and managing comprehensive financial models, projections, and valuations to evaluate equity investment and divestment prospects, while presenting findings to limited partners.

You will deliver comprehensive deal analyses alongside strategic investment recommendations to the Investment Committee for their review and consideration.

Overseeing deal negotiations and finalization—encompassing legal documentation—while ensuring adherence to ESG policies.

Overseeing the equity portfolio and formulating and implementing responsible commercial exit strategies for portfolio companies.

Assist in formulating a digitization strategy in collaboration with the digital transformation team to identify potential target companies and facilitate its execution to drive value creation.

Offer strategic guidance to portfolio companies, including cultivating strategic partnerships, securing new debt and equity financing, and contributing insights on key decisions—particularly those related to ESG and digital transformation initiatives.

As necessary, serve as the ADT representative on the boards of directors of portfolio companies.

Develop co-investment consortia and foster robust relationships with co-investors.

Deliver sustained assistance to the Operations and Finance teams regarding portfolio company valuation and reporting processes.

Collaborate effectively with Managing Partners to cultivate a compelling brand and foster a positive organizational culture, ensuring AIM maintains compliance with industry-leading standards.

Collaborate with investor relations and facilitate due diligence processes for prospective investors.

You will serve as AIM’s representative in the African market and on a global scale, engaging in external professional development initiatives and knowledge-sharing activities, as well as coordinating these efforts appropriately with Action.

Position Requirements

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Proven experience in a similar role is essential, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is required, along with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent organizational and time management skills are necessary to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality work standards. Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards is also mandatory.

With over 15 years of escalating investment expertise in private equity, particularly within financial institutions and fintech, you have cultivated a proven ability to originate, lead, and successfully exit investments across Africa.

Professionals should possess comprehensive industry knowledge in financial services and financial technology, with a strong grasp of operational frameworks, regulatory landscapes, and competitive forces shaping African markets.

Demonstrated capability in formulating and implementing regional investment strategies, encompassing the development of proprietary pipelines, recognizing emerging trends, and ensuring alignment between investment initiatives and overarching organizational and impact goals.

We seek an individual with a proven track record of collaborating with financial institutions to foster value creation, particularly through the development and execution of digital strategies aimed at enhancing financial inclusion.
