Over the past 20 years, Swiss contact has strengthened youth empowerment through initiatives in entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, market-oriented skills training, and sustainable development. Currently, the organization is executing a broad range of projects in key sectors such as Agribusiness, Eye Healthcare, Digital Skills, Green Skills, and E-Mobility entrepreneurship. Among these initiatives is Propel, which is dedicated to enhancing youth skills, employability, and entrepreneurship specifically in the trades of electrical, plumbing, and lift mechanics.

General Position Summary

The Project Officer will play a pivotal role in advancing the Future Fit Project by assisting in the seamless execution of high-caliber initiatives spanning digital skills, green skills (particularly e-mobility), youth entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities. This position will deliver essential operational, coordination, and technical expertise to guarantee that project deliverables are achieved punctually, within defined parameters, and fully compliant with the specifications set by donors, partners, and the organization’s overarching standards.

This role seeks an independent, analytical professional with a strong entrepreneurial mindset and keen attention to detail. The optimal candidate will seamlessly integrate project support with administrative responsibilities.

This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, with up to 30% travel required to field locations.

Facilitate the seamless alignment of project initiatives with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions, private sector collaborators, and financial organizations to ensure cohesive collaboration and execution.

Support the coordination, planning, and scheduling of various educational initiatives, including training programs, workshops, apprenticeships, curriculum development sessions, and stakeholder meetings.

Promptly address and track action items generated from both meeting discussions and fieldwork activities to ensure they are completed within the designated timeframes.

Assist in the formulation of project concepts, intervention strategies, and reporting mechanisms to ensure comprehensive project development and evaluation.

Integrate sustainability and market systems development principles comprehensively into all project activities.

Collaborate with partners to facilitate operational planning, ensure quality assurance measures are implemented, and conduct impact assessments.

The incumbent will oversee monitoring and evaluation activities, ensuring the systematic collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to assess program performance and impact. They will design and implement evaluation frameworks, methodologies, and tools to measure progress against set indicators and objectives. Additionally, the role requires the identification of data gaps, the development of data collection instruments, and the generation of accurate, timely reports to inform decision-making and strategic planning. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in data management software, and experience in results-based management are essential requirements for this position.

Work in partnership with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist to design monitoring tools and measure impact results.

Assist with the ongoing oversight of project activities, deliverables, and performance metrics in accordance with the established Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework.

Provide support in gathering, structuring, and verifying both quantitative and qualitative data from collaborators, external service providers, and program beneficiaries.

Compile data inputs for project reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Assist in documenting learning outcomes, success narratives, and best practices observed during implementation efforts.

Effective stakeholder management involves identifying, engaging, and maintaining productive relationships with all relevant parties to ensure alignment with project objectives. This role requires a proactive approach to communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution to address diverse interests and expectations. Key responsibilities include regularly updating stakeholders on progress, gathering their input, and ensuring their needs are considered in decision-making processes. Forge and sustain robust connections with all project stakeholders, encompassing government bodies, private sector collaborators, non-governmental organizations, and community groups.

Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project partners to ensure alignment and shared progress.

Explore potential partnerships and innovative avenues in alignment with the Future Fit project’s objectives.

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, along with at least three years of professional experience in a comparable role. Familiarity with industry-standard software and tools is essential, and strong problem-solving skills are a must. Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, are necessary to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Prior experience managing projects or leading initiatives is highly desirable.

A relevant bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Project Management, Education, Economics, Business, Engineering, ICT, or a closely related discipline is required.

Proven experience in managing donor funded initiatives and implementing results based project management methodologies is essential.

Seeking professionals with a minimum of two to three years of hands-on experience in facilitating development projects, non-governmental organizations, or private sector initiatives, with a focus on youth employment, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (VET), digital skills, green skills, or entrepreneurship programs.

Analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities are essential for effectively managing and prioritizing project responsibilities.
