Crafting, executing, and sustaining a robust online presence through strategic planning, development initiatives, and ongoing maintenance efforts.

Develop and enhance a forward-thinking web communication strategy for the corporate website(s), child/affiliated sites and pages, and the Knowledge Repository to ensure full alignment with the organization’s mission, strategic goals, and brand identity.

Oversee the continuous development, upkeep, and improvement of the organization’s web platforms, specifically those built on Drupal and Space. Maintain their functionality, usability, and technical performance while ensuring smooth interoperability and seamless system integration.

Establish and uphold compatibility and technical benchmarks to guarantee site accessibility for all users, encompassing multilingual support, across UNEP web platforms.

Guide web developers, designers, and service providers through the implementation of technical solutions and enhancements for web platforms and the Knowledge Repository.

Deliver expert technical assistance to internal teams and end-users, addressing inquiries about the functionality, navigation, and content management system usage of the website and Knowledge Repository.

Our role involves diagnosing and resolving technical issues, bugs, and errors to maintain seamless functionality of UNEP’s web platforms and Knowledge Repository.

Work collaboratively with internal IT support teams or external vendors to resolve intricate technical issues, manage necessary services and subscriptions, and ensure the smooth deployment of new applications.

Conduct comprehensive business analysis and ensure rigorous quality assurance throughout all processes.

Perform business analysis, process mapping, and requirements elicitation to assess the needs and priorities of internal stakeholders, subsequently defining business requirements for websites, campaign sites, and the Knowledge Repository.

Translate business requirements into application functionality, specifications, project documentation, and work plans, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and user needs.

Leverage innovation, design thinking, and prototyping to conceptualize new products and solutions.

Act as the central liaison for internal stakeholders, guaranteeing that the web platform and Knowledge Repository content and functionality align with business objectives, adhere to strategic goals, and are consistently maintained in multiple languages.

Collaborate effectively with graphic designers, UX/UI specialists, and content creators to ensure consistent visual identity, usability, and branding throughout the website.

Deliver expert training sessions to team members, content creators, and website users, focusing on content management best practices, CMS navigation, website standards, and template utilization to foster a deeper understanding of how digital platforms drive user engagement and expand UNEP’s audience reach.

Develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive content strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and target audience needs. Manage the creation, publication, and optimization of high-quality content across multiple platforms, including websites, blogs, and social media channels. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain brand consistency, enhance engagement, and drive measurable results. Monitor content performance through analytics, refine strategies based on insights, and stay updated on industry trends to sustain competitive advantage.

Develop and execute a thorough web content strategy that harmonizes with the organization’s goals and the intended audience across web platforms and the Knowledge Repository. Establish a streamlined workflow process and content management system, overseeing the development and deployment of pages and features, as well as editing and translation tasks.

To curate premium content for the website, maintain strict adherence to accuracy, engagement, and SEO optimization while fully aligning with established brand guidelines.

Perform routine quality assurance checks to verify adherence to branding, theming, and template guidelines, ensuring a cohesive and consistent presentation across all web pages by maintaining uniform fonts, formatting, icons, images, and layouts.

Monitor feedback closely and take appropriate action by refining existing content while spearheading the creation of new, specialized sections and webpages.

Create innovative organic and paid digital marketing strategies designed to amplify messaging and foster engagement concerning the triple planetary crisis and associated campaigns.

Develop and execute strategic plans while managing campaigns across multiple digital platforms, such as search engines, paid search initiatives on Google and Bing, and YouTube advertising.

Monitoring and enhancing system performance is a key responsibility, which includes identifying inefficiencies, analyzing performance metrics, and implementing optimizations to ensure optimal functionality and responsiveness.

Develop a comprehensive measurement framework to evaluate the effectiveness of web platforms, the Knowledge Repository, web pages, and campaigns, and provide ongoing monitoring and performance reporting.

Monitor web platform performance metrics, including traffic volumes, user engagement levels, and conversion rates, by leveraging advanced analytics tools to gather and interpret data.

Education

A master’s degree or equivalent in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Communications, Public Information, or a related discipline is mandatory.

A bachelor’s degree combined with two years of relevant qualifying experience may be considered an acceptable substitute for a master’s degree.

Completion of degree and nondegree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is highly advantageous.
