Job Summary:
This role is responsible for ensuring Chief-Kenya adheres to all Chief-Kenya, donor, and government-mandated rules and regulations. This will be accomplished by implementing and utilizing industry-leading project management systems, playing a key role in designing and strengthening ERP internal controls, offering specialized guidance on donor requirements and compliance standards, assisting in contract negotiations and reviews, and fostering staff and business system capabilities to maintain alignment with contractual and donor obligations.
Overseeing and executing a range of critical tasks, this position entails managing key responsibilities that drive operational efficiency and project success. The role requires coordinating cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, and maintaining high standards of performance. Additionally, the individual will be expected to analyze data, identify trends, and implement strategic improvements to enhance productivity and achieve measurable outcomes. Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills are essential to fulfill these duties successfully.
To maintain the effectiveness of existing internal control frameworks and ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements set by Donors, as well as Chief-Kenya’s established policies.
Conduct thorough assessments of existing processes, practices, and documentation to uncover opportunities for enhancement.
Perform quarterly donor compliance spot checks and compile a quarterly report for submission to the Board and CEO. This involves examining a selection of documents from Finance, HR, Programs, Logistics, Procurement, and Grants, then sharing findings with appropriate staff or departments to facilitate corrective measures.
Working closely with the Board and CEO, you will deliver technical assistance or enhance understanding among all departments and staff regarding donor compliance matters.
Assist in developing Internal Controls and enhancing the finance, procurement, and reporting functionalities of the Chief ERP system through continuous improvement efforts.
Develop and enhance internal control frameworks for the ERP system, playing a key role in strengthening its governance, risk management, and compliance processes.
Assist in developing and enhancing internal controls while continuously improving business systems and reporting elements within the Chief ERP system.
Play a key role in conducting thorough risk assessments and maintaining accurate, up-to-date risk registers.
Investigations will be conducted as necessary to ensure thorough and timely resolution of matters requiring inquiry.
Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, coupled with at least three years of hands-on experience in a similar role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Prior experience in project management or leadership is a plus, as is a proven track record of delivering results in fast-paced environments.
A Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting or a related discipline, coupled with a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) qualification, is required for this position.
Certified Information Systems Auditor or Certified Internal Auditor credentials are required, along with at least eight years of professional experience in auditing, accounting, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation.
Experienced in conducting audits for initiatives supported by USAID, CDC, and other international development collaborators.
Proficient in both written and verbal English communication with a high level of fluency and clarity.
Exceptional organizational capabilities, a keen eye for detail, and the adeptness to prioritize tasks effectively are essential. Furthermore, proficiency in collaborating with professionals from both operations and finance disciplines is required.
Proficient in leveraging the full capabilities of Microsoft Office suite applications.
