Oversee and execute the primary functions and duties outlined for this position, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and standards. Develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, productivity, and performance within the assigned scope of work. Manage projects from inception to completion, adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks. Serve as a liaison between stakeholders, providing clear communication and resolving any operational challenges that may arise. Monitor progress through regular assessments and reporting, making data-driven adjustments as necessary to optimize outcomes.

The ideal candidate will oversee the following responsibilities:

Direct responsibility for overseeing Operational and Credit Risk Management programs spanning all branches and departments.

Overseeing the quality of the portfolio, assessing operational losses, identifying fraud risks, and evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls are key responsibilities.

Designing and upholding enterprise-wide Risk and Compliance frameworks that adhere to both regulatory mandates and Vision Fund International standards constitutes the core responsibility.

Fulfilling the role of the institution’s Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MRO), you will oversee compliance with anti-money laundering regulations and serve as the primary point of contact for suspicious activity reporting.

Overseeing adherence to Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CFT) mandates, data protection legislation, Digital Credit Provider Regulations, and other pertinent statutory obligations.

Crafting comprehensive Risk & Compliance reports tailored for management, board committees, and regulatory bodies constitutes a critical component of the role.

Facilitates the development and implementation of Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) initiatives.

Fostering a robust institutional framework around risk awareness while advancing staff training and compliance culture initiatives.

Ensuring thorough follow-up on the implementation and conclusion of audit and compliance recommendations is essential.

Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of three years of professional experience in a similar role. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is essential, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills and the capacity to collaborate effectively within a team are required. Prior experience managing multiple projects and adhering to strict deadlines is preferred. A commitment to continuous learning and professional development is highly valued.

The ideal candidate should possess:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law, or a closely related discipline is required.

Professional certifications including CPA, ARCA, CIA, CISA, COMA, CAMS, or their equivalents are highly advantageous.

A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in Risk Management, Compliance, or Internal Audit is required, with a focus on the Microfinance, Banking, SACCO, or Financial Services industries.

Demonstrates extensive expertise in key risk management domains, including Operational Risk, Credit Risk, Anti-Money Laundering/Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CFT), Internal Controls, and Regulatory Compliance.

Proven expertise in analytical reasoning, professional communication, and report development, coupled with strong stakeholder engagement and management capabilities.

Maintaining high ethical standards, demonstrating unwakened professionalism, and exhibiting meticulous attention to detail are essential qualities required for this role.
