Role Context
The PR & Communications Associate will help advance Prudential Kenya’s public relations and communications objectives by cultivating stronger media connections, producing polished written materials, contributing to internal messaging strategies, organizing PR events, and providing support in managing crises and safeguarding the company’s reputation.
The position will uphold and strengthen the Prudential brand by maintaining uniform, prompt, and compliant messaging across every internal and external interaction.
Principal Accountabilities
In this role, you will manage media and public relations initiatives, serving as the primary liaison between the organization and external media outlets. Your responsibilities will include crafting press releases, coordinating interviews with key spokespeople, and monitoring media coverage to assess public perception. Additionally, you will nurture relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers to secure favorable coverage and manage crises as they arise. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a keen understanding of media trends and public sentiment. Experience in crisis communication and a proven track record in media outreach are highly desirable.
Craft compelling press releases, media statements, op-eds, and bylined articles, and assist in their pitching to secure valuable earned media coverage.
Assist in managing media interview arrangements by developing briefing notes, key messages, and Q&A documents as needed.
Develop and nurture professional connections with journalists, editors, and key media stakeholders across pertinent channels to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
Monitor media coverage on a daily basis, analyze sentiment trends, and identify emerging issues, promptly escalating any potential reputational risks for timely intervention.
Developing and overseeing engaging, high-quality content while ensuring its strategic dissemination and organization is a core responsibility of this role. Additionally, the position involves curating, editing, and publishing content across various platforms to maintain consistency, relevance, and brand alignment. Strong proficiency in content management systems, editorial best practices, and digital marketing principles is required, along with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve content goals.
Create compelling content for newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, website updates, and corporate publications, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and engagement across all materials.
Support the production and scheduling of content for Prudential Kenya’s social media channels while ensuring alignment with the brand’s tone and established guidelines.
Oversee the organization and upkeep of a content repository while providing assistance to the communications calendar to guarantee the punctual distribution of materials.
Effective internal communication and strict adherence to brand compliance standards are essential responsibilities for this role. The position requires developing and implementing communication strategies that align with organizational objectives while maintaining brand integrity. Additionally, the individual must ensure all internal messaging, materials, and employee interactions reflect the company’s established brand guidelines and values. This role involves collaborating with multiple departments to reinforce brand messaging, fostering a cohesive and unified internal brand experience.
Facilitate the creation and dissemination of internal communications, such as employee newsletters, staff announcements, and leadership messages, to ensure timely and effective information sharing.
Support brand compliance checks to verify that all communications align with Prudential’s brand guidelines, maintain the appropriate tone of voice, and meet established governance requirements.
Facilitate the internal approval process and manage version control for all communication materials.
As part of the team, you will provide essential assistance in coordinating events and managing public relations logistics, ensuring seamless execution of all activities. Your responsibilities will include organizing logistics for events, handling PR-related tasks, and supporting the overall planning and implementation processes to maintain high standards of professionalism and efficiency.
Assist in the strategic planning and seamless coordination of press conferences, media briefings, webinars, public relations events, and stakeholder engagements.
Provide support in organizing event logistics, distributing invitations, monitoring media participation, and compiling post-event reports.
Liaise with external vendors and cross-functional teams to facilitate the seamless implementation of public relations initiatives.
In the role of Crisis Communication and Reporting, the incumbent will be tasked with managing and disseminating critical information during high-pressure situations, ensuring timely and accurate updates to stakeholders. This position requires exceptional judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to craft clear, concise messages under tight deadlines. Responsibilities include coordinating with leadership, media, and external partners to align communications, monitoring emerging threats, and developing response strategies to mitigate reputational and operational risks. A deep understanding of crisis protocols, regulatory compliance, and crisis simulation experience are essential, along with proficiency in communication tools and platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in crisis management, crisis PR, or a related field, and demonstrate adaptability in evolving scenarios.
Assist in executing communication strategies during critical situations or crises by crafting holding statements and tailored messages for stakeholders.
Assist in the upkeep and management of communications risk logs and issue trackers to ensure accurate documentation and tracking of potential risks and ongoing concerns.
Compile comprehensive PR performance reports, compile media coverage summaries, and conduct post-campaign evaluations to support strategic decision-making and organizational learning.

Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of three years of professional experience in software development or systems engineering. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is mandatory, along with strong problem-solving abilities and experience with agile methodologies. The ideal applicant will demonstrate expertise in system design, testing, and troubleshooting, ensuring high-quality deliverables while adhering to project timelines and client specifications. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential to thrive in a dynamic team environment.
A bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a closely related discipline is required.
Requires a minimum of one to five years of professional experience in corporate communications, public relations, journalism, or an agency setting.
Skilled in facilitating media interactions, crafting compelling content, and managing stakeholder relationships.
Strong written English skills are essential; Swahili language proficiency serves as an additional asset.
Proficiency in financial services or insurance industry communication is highly beneficial.
