Our client, a rapidly expanding mid-sized freight forwarding firm based in Nairobi, is a specialist in air and sea cargo logistics, connecting key global hubs such as Dubai, Guangzhou, London, Milan, Johannesburg, Istanbul, and Amsterdam. The company facilitates the movement of 80–100 tonnes of air freight each month, encompassing both commercial and personal shipments, while also managing the daily dispatch of one 40ft container. Offering a comprehensive end-to-end service, they ensure full visibility throughout the entire logistics chain, from warehouse receipt and customs clearance to final delivery.

Our client is in search of a highly motivated and seasoned Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to assume comprehensive operational leadership, enhance their organizational processes, and spearhead their upcoming expansion phase.

Facilitates the execution of critical organizational duties, encompassing a broad spectrum of strategic and operational tasks. Accountable for overseeing team performance, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, and fostering an environment conducive to productivity and innovation. Develops and implements policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency, mitigate risks, and uphold compliance with industry standards. Collaborates with cross-functional departments to drive project completion, resolve operational challenges, and optimize resource allocation. Additionally, monitors key performance indicators, analyzes data trends, and provides actionable insights to senior leadership to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Oversee and manage all seven operational departments, including Sales, Customer Service, Transport, Marketing, Call Center, Warehouse, and Operations, ensuring cohesive collaboration and strategic alignment across the organization.

Achieve a 20-30% increase in revenue year-over-year while simultaneously enhancing profitability margins.

Deliver superior client experiences by expediting the resolution of delays, breakages, and claims.

Responsible for managing air freight operations, sea container logistics, warehouse storage, transportation networks, and customs clearance procedures.

Develop and nurture robust international collaborations while deploying advanced technological solutions to enhance tracking capabilities and operational efficiency.

Holds an advanced degree in a relevant discipline, such as education, curriculum development, or instructional design, with a minimum of five years of progressive experience in the field. Demonstrates expertise through a proven track record in designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and industry standards.

A minimum of 10 to 15 years of professional experience in freight forwarding and logistics is required, with a particular emphasis on air freight and containerized sea freight operations.

Minimum of five years’ experience in senior leadership positions, such as General Manager, Director, or Chief Executive Officer roles, with full accountability for profit and loss management is required.

Demonstrates a strong history of delivering exceptional client service and driving operational enhancements within logistics environments.

Proficient understanding of the Kenyan and broader East African regulatory frameworks, including the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Ports Authority (PA), and Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEYS), is required.

A bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related field is required. An MBA or certifications such as CULT or FIAT would provide an additional advantage.

Core proficiencies encompass strategic planning, analytical thinking, and problem resolution, coupled with exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities. Demonstrated expertise in project management, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration is essential. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools, along with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development, is required. Candidates must exhibit a track record of driving innovation, managing stakeholders effectively, and delivering measurable results. A keen attention to detail and the capacity to adapt to dynamic environments are also critical.
