Job Summary

Pearl Hospital, a Level 4 multi-specialty facility located in Lavinia County, is dedicated to delivering excellence through its core values of quality, efficiency, professionalism, and compassion. We are currently seeking a skilled Optical Technician to support our optical services division. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for dispensing optical products, fitting and repairing eyewear, performing basic optical measurements, and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Oversee and execute vital duties that include managing project timelines, coordinating cross-functional teams, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Address operational challenges, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and maintain clear communication to align goals with organizational objectives. Additionally, monitor performance metrics, analyze data to identify trends, and implement corrective actions as needed. Collaborate with leadership to develop strategic plans, allocate resources efficiently, and support the achievement of departmental and company-wide targets.

Interpret and dispense prescriptions provided by Optometrists or Ophthalmologists to ensure accurate fulfillment of visual correction orders.

Provide support to patients in choosing suitable frames, lenses, and optical accessories.

Ensure precise measurements are taken, including pupillary distance (PD), segment height, and frame fitting specifications.

Examine, modify, and restore spectacles and other optical instruments to ensure optimal functionality and precision.

Responsible for accurately documenting and managing inventory records pertaining to frames, lenses, contact lenses, and optical supplies.

Thoroughly review and validate optical orders to ensure accuracy prior to dispensing.

Maintain optical equipment and tools in a clean, operational, and well-maintained condition at all times.

Ensure meticulous documentation of patient information and medication dispensing in strict adherence to hospital-established protocols.

Facilitate the management of stock-taking and procurement activities for optical supplies.

Maintain strict adherence to all Infection Prevention and Control protocols while ensuring a consistently clean and sanitary workspace.

Engage actively in initiatives aimed at enhancing quality standards within the optical department.

Minimum education requirements include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, or business administration. A minimum of three years of professional experience in a related role is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked in project management or data analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with proficiency in industry-standard software and tools. Excellent communication abilities are necessary to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Candidates must demonstrate a track record of meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results in fast-paced environments.

Earn a Diploma or Certificate in Optical Technology or Optician from an accredited institution.

Applicants must possess current registration with the appropriate professional body, where such registration is mandated.

A minimum of one to two years of professional experience in an optical clinic, hospital, or eyewear retail environment is beneficial.

Proficiency in optical lenses, frames, contact lenses, and dispensing methodologies is required.
