Job Summary

We are currently seeking an Optical Technician to support the delivery of outstanding optical services, including the dispensing of optical products, fitting and repairing eyewear, performing essential optical measurements, and maintaining exceptional customer care standards for patients.

Oversee a range of critical responsibilities encompassing strategic planning, project execution, and team leadership to drive organizational success. Develop and implement comprehensive policies, procedures, and performance metrics to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with industry standards. Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders to align goals, resolve challenges, and foster innovation. Lead initiatives that enhance productivity, streamline processes, and optimize resource allocation while maintaining a strong focus on quality and accountability. Monitor progress through regular assessments, data-driven insights, and adaptive strategies to meet evolving business demands.

Interpret and fill prescriptions provided by Optometrists or Ophthalmologists.

Provide guidance to patients in choosing suitable frames, lenses, and optical accessories tailored to their needs and preferences.

Accurately measure pupillary distance (PD), segment height, and other essential frame fitting specifications.

Skilled professionals will be responsible for the precise fitting, adjustment, and repair of spectacles and other optical devices, ensuring optimal comfort and functionality for users. Additionally, they will perform regular maintenance to uphold the quality and performance of these devices.

Responsible for managing and updating inventory records for frames, lenses, contact lenses, and optical supplies.

Thoroughly review and validate optical orders to ensure complete accuracy prior to dispensing.

Verify that all optical equipment and tools are kept in a clean, operational state and undergo regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance.

Ensure precise documentation of patient information and medication dispensing in alignment with hospital protocols.

Support stock-taking and procurement processes for optical supplies by maintaining accurate inventory records, tracking supply levels, and coordinating orders to ensure timely replenishment. Identify discrepancies in stock levels, initiate requisitions for necessary supplies, and collaborate with vendors to secure optimal pricing and delivery schedules. Verify received shipments against purchase orders to confirm accuracy and quality, while also troubleshooting issues to prevent disruptions in supply.

Ensure strict adherence to all Infection Prevention and Control protocols while consistently upholding a hygienic workspace.

Contribute to quality enhancement initiatives within the optical department by collaborating with team members to identify and implement improvements.

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, or information technology, is required for consideration. At least three years of professional experience in a related role is necessary, with a proven track record in project management or system administration preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Familiarity with industry-standard tools and methodologies is also required to ensure effective execution of duties.

A recognized institution must award a Diploma or Certificate in Optical Technology or Optician.

Professional registration with the appropriate regulatory body is required, where applicable.

A minimum of one to two years of practical experience in an optical clinic, hospital, or eyewear retail environment is highly beneficial.

Proficiency in optical lenses, frames, and contact lenses, along with dispensing methodologies, is essential.

Demonstrated proficiency in core competencies essential to the role is mandatory, including strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
