Prepare a comprehensive work plan for the consultancy initiative, outlining the engagement strategy for key stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Carry out an on-site assessment to detect potential contamination by resistant pathogens in various environmental sources, including slaughterhouse effluent, swimming pool water, healthcare facility wastewater, river water adjacent to livestock operations, high-traffic coastal waters, agricultural runoff, poultry litter, ruminant manure, aquaculture systems, and hydroponic breeding environments.
Gather and synthesize the most recent research regarding the presence of resistant germs and their impact on environmental compartments.
Investigate the origins and proliferation of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) within the environment, systematically assessing and delineating sectors that pose significant risk.
Provide specialized technical guidance and recommendations for the development and implementation of national antimicrobial resistance (AMR) management strategies.
A comprehensive diagnostic report assessing the existing status of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Tunisia, with emphasis on critical risks, identified knowledge deficiencies, and actionable recommendations for urgent interventions.
To pinpoint knowledge and data deficiencies, devise strategic operational or research measures, and translate these into a coherent and executable roadmap for submission to the government post-workshop.
Compiling and effectively disseminating the acquired knowledge to the intended audiences are essential duties of this role.
Engage in the national workshop by presenting pertinent findings from the studies conducted.
Facilitate meaningful discussions and exchanges throughout the workshop to gather insights that contribute to the knowledge and gap analysis.
Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university degree, specifically a master’s degree or equivalent qualification, in microbiology, environmental health, environmental management, environmental science, or a closely related discipline is mandatory for this role.
Candidates possessing a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience may be considered in place of a university degree requirement.
A minimum of two years of professional experience in environmental policy, public health, or a closely related discipline is essential.
Expertise in antimicrobial resistance is essential, with a particular emphasis on environmental factors including pollution, chemical exposure, waste, and wastewater management.
Required is demonstrated expertise in delivering technical and policy assistance within multidisciplinary and multisectoral frameworks at global, regional, and/or national levels.
A proven ability to collaborate successfully with a wide range of stakeholders—such as governmental bodies, United Nations agencies, the Quadripartite, private-sector entities, and other international organizations—would be advantageous.
